Baltimore's MIX 2 is moving to FM!

I'm surprised nobody has posted this yet. According to DCRTV, the FCC has approved CBS's application for Baltimore's "Mix 2" (WWMX-HD2) to be broadcast on a translator. The frequency will be 97.5 at 250 watts, enough to blanket all of the city and some of the immediate suburbs.

I think Mix 2 is the best HD2 dance station. But I don't think CBS should be allowed to exceed the ownership limit by abusing a translator loophole. But if they're under the limit, more power to 'em, it should be treated as a local station originating its own programming!

I'm glad we're getting another FM dance station though! 97.5 seems like a clear frequency in Baltimore, unlike 106.3 in New York. Let's hope it stays dance. A dance station with a small signal is likely to fail. Right now Mix 2 is just a loss leader as an HD2. It showed up in the ratings once last summer, which proves that there is a demand for dance music in Baltimore. Its supposed cume was higher than the number of HD radios that exist in Baltimore, so the people had to be listening online. But after 97.5 hits the air, CBS will want it to turn a profit.

It would be nice if they could get 107.9 in Annapolis (currently Family Radio) after the world doesn't end on Saturday.
