Bangor/Ellsworth Radio

made my annual trek northeast to scoop up my kid from a Scout trip in Cutler Sunday.

Radio sounds very solid in the Bangor area, even post-CC/Blueberry.

heard one commercial for Quinn's TruValue that was exceptionally well-done. not sure who the players are, but the primary male voice was excellent and there was even a little kid involved who worked the copy well.

WNSX - 97 dot 7. great music, awesome on-air folks (heard old buddy Bruce Stevens Sunday morning). even tracked, they had lots of local stuff ("go see fabulous Phil and his bi-plane at the airport...") and some tunes i've not heard aired in a while - including Rod Stewart's "Angel" (the Hendrix classic redux).
maybe a little too heavy on Simon & Garfunkel (one every 70 minutes or so) - otherwise, a good listen.

i'd offer props to Z62, but when i turned it on, they were airing a Steven King-scripted Red Sox game - Josh Beckett getting yanked in the 3rd inning and down by 7 runs? talk about nightmares. i instantly flipped off the radio as i was afraid my son would be scarred for life. (grinnin')

and i heard old buddy Joe McMillian on an Arby's spot (the 5 for 5.95 special) - so i'm guessing it's a fairly recent one.

nothing's changed with the blueberry cluster (yet, other than the axing of people) the websites are still standard clear channel.

the only change Bangor radio has seen is that K-Love now has 2 translators in Bangor (one on the south side of town, and one up by the mall area)

props to Z62! Wow, I felt a little tingle when I read that.

yes, I hope Blueberry broadcasting doesn't change much to the formats of that stations, it works in Bangor.... ugh that would be a dissapointment. :'( But in my mind the Bangor market is one of the most diverse, more so than the Portland market i think at least....
