Bangor ratings out

The Bangor ratings are out............some highlights and thoughts

Q106 still #1, with WVOM a strong 2nd

'TOS at #3? pretty good for an out of market signal (more down below)

Z107 up slightly, looks like all the kiddos went somewhere else because their ratings didn't spike all too much when B97 went away.

'KIT down and I-95, 'TOS up a healthy amount and out of market signals like Frank on 105.5 and River 93.5 showing up in the Bangor books, I wonder what they're thinking over on Broadway now?

The only other thing I noticed was how poorly the 2 ACs in the market did, WKSQ a shell of what it once was and WEZQ down as well.

KISS 94.5
Hope it makes a Comeback!
I always Enjoyed doing their Image Work
It has a Great History in the Ellsworth Area

Over here on broadway we're thinking #1 or # 2 in most every adult and men's 25-54 demo is just fine...but thanks for asking!

I don't think you have anything to worry about, Bobby {smiley face}

really? So a big jump in I-95, and 'TOS leapfrogging over 'KIT and theres nothing to worry about?

You're always #1 in something, I'm just wondering if (even though 'KIT has its loyal followers) in a few books, 'KIT might not be as strong as it once was (we are talking about a station that used to be #1 or #2 in the market a few years ago, now they're not even the #1 rock station)

But then again, Stephen King doesn't really care about the ratings, radio's just a hobby to him.

Okay everyone....let's get back to reality. National buying is way down and will never be what it once was. Ratings, for the most part, don't mean squat anymore.

Is the station making money? Do listeners respond to contests, remotes, and events? In WKIT's defense...then answer is YES.

In the end, THAT's what matters most.

WKIT makes their own trail without all of the hurdles put in place by corporate consultants (who, by the way, are SO out of touch with how radio works...and how radio differs in each market.) and WKIT continue to be very successful.

Congrats to the Zone, Blueberry, and Mark Osborne for keeping LOCAL radio alive and well.

Couldn't be more wrong about ratings, with National dollars so small, clients want to make sure they are getting the MOST for their money. They no longer buy stations they once used to purely based on ratings.

The stations they DO buy, they want an arm n' a leg in "added value"

since I can't edit my previous post, i guess i'll double post...

and most of the time it's the same group of prize w*ores that call up for the stuff (or order the copies of a football game), maybe not the same people at the remotes but every station has a group of listeners that call up every contest and mark off the days until they can win again

Amazed to see WZON's numbers cut in half in just a year. Blueberry's WEEI simulcast has certainly takes its toll.

Really? WAEI, $150,000 a year for a 1.4? Who's taking the toll.

That's a completely separate issue, and one I really couldn't care less about.

WZON's down 50% in 12 months. No other way to attribute that kind of plummet than to the competing sports station, is there?

Now, did Blueberry overspend on WAEI? Perhaps (a year is too soon to truly judge). But that has nothing to do with the here-and-now reality that the effect of WAEI's existence has had to have taken a toll on WZON.

Amazed that anybody would rather listen to the latter than the former.

should be noted that a great book by TOS and WWMJ probably had as much to do with WZON's numbers as WAEI...
although they are starting to get some numbers clearly

Not sure what you mean by that...could you go into more detail?

certainly WAEI is taking some numbers, but TOS and especially WWMJ got numbers they didnt have before. Just like WVOM didnt quite get as many men as the fall... i'm just saying the numbers probably got spread around some... cant say one went directy to the other.

'TOS has had good books before in Bangor, several years ago they were about where they were now and was the highest rated Clear Channel station in Bangor.

As I understand it,this signal doesn't even reach into Bangor.103.1 in Dover-Foxcroft has applied for the call letters WZON-FM.It can only help.

Nope, it gets blown out by WERU's translator on 102.9
