Barbara "Miss Bunny" Stuart Dies (Gomer Pyle)

Barbara Stuart never became a household name, but if you were watching TV anytime from the mid-1950s until just five years ago, you probably saw her face.

Perhaps best known as Sergeant Carter's girlfriend, Miss Bunny, on "Gomer Pyle USMC," Stuart's string of credits reads like a TV all-star team.

A longtime resident of California, Stuart died Sunday at the age of 81 in St. George. Her brother, Richard, lives in Santa Clara.

Full story at Salt Lake City Tribune

I loved her as Miss Bunny. She was such a good girlfriend for Sgt Carter

She was also Tawny Kitaen's mother in Bachelor Party. She was the one who asked the famous question......"Is that a foot-long?"

I kind of miss Gomer Pyle. Have not seen it for many years.
That episode where Pyle and Carter are trading a car back and forth
and Sgt. Hacker keeps siphoning gas to make the mileage go up and
down is one of the funniest sitcom episodes of all time.

I had heard that there was an issue with the music rights for all
of Jim Nabors' singing performances, and if you cut them all out some
of the episodes are only six minutes long.

Me-TOO WCIU (Channel 26.4) and WMEU analog 46 broadcast Gomer Pyle . It's good fun, but it's a bit hard to watch as it's way too nice and clean. I mean after all they are Marines, you'd expect a bit more grit, but the comedy is funny.

I am embarrassed to think how old I must have been before I realized that Marines actually
did something besides rake gravel and enter singing contests.

I enjoyed watching them until IVI was shut down.

Sargent Carter applies to officer's school and encourages Gomer to take the test also. Carter
trys to pick the answers while Gomer slaps two fingers on the desk to decide TRUE or FALSE
........ depending on how bad the pain is.

Gomer outscores Carter (10th place), one spot above Carter and prepares for a transfer.
Then he doesn't want to leave Carter and they both decide they are not ready to become
officers yet.

You have to watch about 5 shows to find one that is really really funny.

Having just watched the first three seasons and just getting to the fourth, I am saddened to just hear of the passing of Barbara Stuart last May. She was a very good actress and will be missed. Rest In Peace Sweet Lady.

Didn't Barbara play another role in Season 1? The Dragon Lady, or something similar? I believe Carter wanted Pyle to ask this siren (the Dragon Lady) for a kiss, hoping he'll get judo-flipped....but she kissed him....Can't remember the rest, but I assume Carter asked for a kiss as well, and *he* got the judo treatment....shades of Wile E. Coyote...

Also she was the wife of Dick "Hymie" Gautier (of Get Smart), n'est-ce pas?
