Barix AAC+

I'm putting a Roku Soundbrige at the other end until I can find the right Barix unit and buy it. Cannot trust a regular consumer radio player to deal with outages, etc.

I have a question for Dana or anyone else famailir with the streaming client firmware. When I purchase an exstreamer 100 it sounds like they don't all support AAC+ (based on chipset) so I was hoping for some guidance that would help me buy the right version of the 100

Release notes say:
AAC+ decoding is available only on IPAM 300 based
hardware (Exstreamer 100, 110 and 200 labeled “AAC+
capable”).
 
That is correct. The newer units have a new IPAM. All the Exstreamers being shipped within the past couple of months are AAC+ compatible, except for a few refurbished warranty replacement units still in the pipeline. There is a sticker on the AAC+ ones.

To use AAC+, you must put Streaming Client firmware on the EX 100s and 200s. Either SC versions 2.10 or 1.56 will work with AAC+.
 
I sure like ACC+ in general. I just wished there was an economical way for Barix to include it in their Instreamer 100 line. It's very ideal even as an STL for an AM or something like that...
