Barix Instreamer 100 with Metadata for Shoutcast

Hey guys, I am curious on how to setup metadata to be included in my audio stream. Otherwise I cannot broadcast "Legally" unless someone knows a loop hole! I'm all ears!

What software would you suggest and how do I go about hooking this up. My stream host allows setting up my server as a "relay" so I notice it calls for port# and IP.

My router is a linksys wrt54g.

please help!

The easiest way to do this (based on the limited information given) is with Shoutcast. What software are you going to use to play the music? You can do a basic "get my music out there" stream with Winamp and the Shoutcast DSP plug-in. You send one stream at whatever bitrate (32k, 64k, 128k, 192k, etc.) to your stream host and they "rebroadcast" it at that rate to waiting listeners.

It can be done, give us more information on your setup.

Hello there.

I would be interested in this as well.

Currently we use Zararadio as a radio automation programm, the PC soundcard sends to a mixer, the mixer's main out goes to a Barix Instreamer. We don't use Shoutcast to encode, we use the Barix to do it, and send the signal to a shoutcast server.

The problem is that we cannot send the metadata of each song to the shoutcast server. Does anybody have any idea?

Bobperry, did you mean to run a shoutcast server on our pc, in order to just encode on a low bitrate and somehow send the metadata to our webpage (in order to show song title etc)? something like that? Or did you just mean to stop using the barix and use shoutcast and winamp to encode and stream to the shoutcast server?

Thank you.

Well if you are using a Shoutcast Server it seems you would be saving yourself quite a few headaches to make the rather inexpensive investment in the SAM Broadcaster as it will do everything you are currently doing and you only have one application to worry about.

I to was trying to save a few bucks and utilize freeware and things and after dealing with individual application bugs from three different products and incompatibilities I gave in and purchased SAM and things have been great...

Sometimes its worth it to make the small investment when you are looking at the big picture...

So what is every one using to stream audio and song titles? I understand that SAM would work as a stand-alone system, but I have no interest in changing my radio automation system. It is currently feeding our FM transmitter and has lots of over-the-air listeners. What I have works fine for billing and traffic purposes and sounds good on the air. What's more, I'm used to it. 8) I really don’t want the adventure of changing automation systems, no matter how good they are.

My current automation does provide a "Now Playing" text file, which I use to display on RDS equipped radios. That works great. For streaming, I've been using "Simplecast," which comes from the same folks as SAM. It does a fine job of getting audio to the server, but getting the "Now Playing" text file to post properly has been a real hair puller.

Any suggestions for an alternative would be appreciated.

I just use good ole winamp to stream, and send it to a remote server called centovacast.. Dont worry about the ridiculous DMCA rules, they are impossible to comply with,, besides that, if you are using various artist cds, then they really arent from the same original album are they?? ;)

Yea Oddcast does a good job if you are using a setup without an encoder...

I just got my hands on a copy of DirEttore Automation software and the DirEmote remote client for other workstations and so far just getting installed on frankenstein machine for testing and evaluation I am impressed with all the bells and whistles it has and the interface is quite nice...

After I test drive and knock it around a bit I will post what I think about it...
