Barix Instreamer

Does anyone know how to get a Barix Instreamer (the cheaper one) to go lower than a 54k MP3 stream? It would be a very cool box to use for sports programming if there was a way to utilize it at a lower bitrate, etc.

Use widows media instead. Call harris and ask how to download.

Use MPEG-2

MPEG-2 at 22.5K mono/quality level 3 uses about 30K of bandwidth and sounds pretty damn good.

Try it-I think you'll like it.

Use the web browser interface. "Settings"-"Audio" . (http://192.168.1.XXX/uiconfig.html )
Mine can be set as low as MPEG2/16khz.
I have used these set at MPEG2/22.05 khz with very good results over a 56k DDS line.

I like the sound of mp2 but what the thing Im try to do is be able to send the signal to a shoutcast server to re-send it out to the mass public, etc. I'm not sure that the public has a player to hear the mp2 stuff..

It's NOT MP2!!!

MP2 is MPEG 1 layer 2,
This is MPEG-2!

Winamp, Windows Media Player, Itunes player, and Musicmatch all play it just fine.

With Windows Media Player, you have to push the play button (again) once it begins to buffer, or it will buffer forever.
