Barix Question

I am using a couple of Barix sets. One has the streaming firmware, with the public IP address at the Instreamer location. The other is using the STL firmware on a T1 line. I am having no problems with either of these. I am attempting to set up a third Barix pair. In this case, the public IP address is at the Exstreamer location. So far, we haven't had any success. But, I haven't had time to really research this. If anyone can give me some quick tips to at least get me in the ballpark for a setup that will work, I would appreciate it. There doesn't appear to be a network issue. The person at the Instreamer location can log into the Exstreamer. Thanks.

On the Exstreamer, do you have the IP address set to 0.0.0.0:3030 (or whatever port your using)? The zeros tell it to look at it's own IP address. Also, are you using a router on the exstreamer end? If so, you might need to check the port forwarding.

Also, I always load the Streaming Client firmware on the Exstreamers.

The Exstreamer has the Streaming Client. The Exstreamer end is going through a router and a switch. I'm going to be busy all of today, but the person who was dealing with the Instreamer end will begin posting instead of me. Thanks for your help.

As a check of the Instreamer, I've used WinAmp, pointed to the URL of the Instreamer, to listen to the stream at the receive end. If you can't hear it there... then the Instreamer isn't spitting out it's stream.

Don't forget, as was previously mentioned, to open up the Router Port that the Instreamer is set to.

You can listen to the Instreamer on it's "local" network with WinAmp by pointing it to the "local" IP of the Instreamer, this will verify that it's at least trying to stream.

As far as the Exstreamer goes, it needs to be pointed at the Public IP of the Instreamer router and additionally to the Port that the Instreamer is using.

You may also need to setup "address translation" on the router so that the Port points to the Instreamers local IP.

Ok, I have one running in the same setup you are discussing, with the static IP at the transmitter site. Here are my settings:
On the Exstreamer
IP Address 192.168.1.10
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1
DNS 192.168.1.1
Streaming Settings
1. URL RTP://0.0.0.0:3030
On your router, port forward 3030 to 192.168.1.10

On your Instreamer
Audio
MPEG1/44.1 kHz(MP3)
Quality 5

Streaming
Stream to
1 RTP 99.99.99.99:3030 (Replace the 99s with the static IP address at the Exstreamer end.)

Those are my settings, hopefully they will work for you too.

Thanks, everyone. The person at the Instreamer talked to tech support at Barix and has most of the problems worked out. There is apparently still a problem with his switch (or router?). He was able to use the Barix to stream from a different location, but could only stream for a few minutes from the desired location. Hopefully, with a different switch (or router), all will be OK.
