Barry Ackerly has passed away

Not surprised by this and the cause of death---a stroke. I will always remember after he sold his Miami station in1991 (for a loss) that he stormed into KJR down at Queen Anne and walked down the hall in a very brisk pace, teeth gritted and his face absolutely BEET RED and demanded to see the payroll sheet.

Then he fired Gary Lockwood, the traffic gal, his son (a board operator) and the GM. He put one of his sons into the GM office.

Lot of good it did him. He had to pay LJ anyway. Barry was a good guy to work for. He left u alone. But when he got mad it wasn't a pleasant place to be. RIP Barry.
 
Barry was a great guy to work for. The Ackerly family has lost a great man and so has the radio industry.
