I don't know all the details, but Barry Medlin, longtime owner of KAGH-AM/FM in Crossett died on September 24th after a brief illness. Medlin's company also operated KWLT-FM in North Crossett, which was owned by his son.
Larry, how long is "long time". Sometime around 1977 Lonnie Hutto and I replaced a modulation transformer in their AM rig. I don't recall much, except the folks there treated us nicely and paid us on the spot. Could that have been Barry?
Barry was a great guy.... committed to hometown radio over the years. I knew him for upwards of twenty years and always liked him.
I think he had his challenges with the new Hamburg station (99.7 maybe??) that signed on a few years ago.... they took the Crossett Eagles and some other staples. I guess his son will continue to operate the stations for the time being.
I haven't been down there in a LONG time. Is Crossett still a nice place to live?
Hi ProdWhiz. I, too, hope things work out OK fror the stations and Barry's son. As far as Crossett, I haven't been through their since about 1982. My guess it's still a nice place.
