It's about time. He was squandered for years on a net that hasn't given 2 f*cks about the sport he was passionate about.

Now ESPN has no need to ever discuss the NHL ever again.

'Cept for that little rub of having no NBA to discuss or broadcast and needing much more time to fill.
Oh well, more Lumberjack competitions and the PBA!

(Chris Schenkel would roll over in his grave if he knew the PBA would become front burner television again)
 
Matthew Barnaby can sit there like a deer in the headlights for two minutes on
SportsCenter every third night as well as anyone else can.
 
Sadly, he did not leave ESPN. God I want him to. Him and Levi or Bruci. Hell, all 3 should leave and split between NBCS and NHLN

From what I've seen Seacrest brings nothing but a shiny set of teeth to any one of his many pursuits. What he knows and what he does behind the scenes is a mystery to me but I will bet he doesn't know his "game" as well as Melrose knows hockey - and that is what Barry is there for. Not a shining face of a front man but rather an expert adept at dissecting a game and explaining it.
 
Barry will be working for both networks. He will only be a contributor to the NHL Network and blog on NHL.com. I know ESPN doesn't air hockey expect for talking about it during highlights shown on Sports Center which is when Barry is talking hockey on ESPN.

So why is ESPN letting him do this?

Also just lastnight he was on NHL Network live from ESPN Bristol, CT. Which was said on the NHL Network.
