Barry Young Bulletin!

Meanwhile, over at 94.5, it's not a That '70s Weekend or a
'70 Playlist Weekend (same thing).

It's a Dbacks Double Play Winning Weekend, and I've actually
heard some '60s songs. :eek: (NBO SFX: ooooooooh!)

However I fully expect not to hear Zager & Evans, as there's
no double play to be had. So I challenge KOOL-FM to do a
James Brown twin spin--hey, they'll have to play something
besides the one overplayed JB song! ;)

Great Timing...D'backs have the worst record in the National League West right now. Nurse Jeff and I'm certain those nose-bleed seat tickets will really fly off the shelf. We've got all the radios at the Media Hut tuned to 94~Five in giddy anticipation of winning!

did Zager & Evans ever have a follow up to 2525? YIKES!
 
Barry Young is gonna be P.O.'d big time when he hears that Kim Kommando is ripping off his lame sound effects library! Nurse Jeff and I listened to her show Saturday pm on KFWhyEye and noticed that not only is she using the same sfx, but a number of the same rejoiners. There's gonna be hell to pay when the Nearly Bald One finds out the same thing we did :eek:

That's been going on for years. The much-more-famous Kim Komando has been using that sound effect package for over a decade, with similar delivery to Barry's. "do you Barry take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, to share sound effects in holy matrimony as long as Clear Channel shall let you live?"

I'd still listen to Barry over Bruce St. James or anything else on at that time, although it used to be that Michelle was just a footnote to the show and chimed in occasionally, now she's the regular co-host; I guess the yuppie North Scottsdale crowd needs a voice too, right?

Nurse Jeff and I can't figure out if it's her self-righteous point of view or slurred speech that is more annoying? Aside from that, the Nearly Bald One has a super secret weapon that even KT'R doesn't have.......I K S N I B A B (hold your screen up to a mirror for the answer)

The nice thing about listening to BY is that if you miss his show one day you don't have to worry about it. He'll be doing the same one tomorrow.

I tried to listen to JS the other day too. It could not have been lamer. I know everyone around here loves him and I'm sure he's the nicest thing since Governor Rose came along, but KFYI is a shell of its former self. Sad to see happen.

I'll mostly agree with that, though I do like Jim Sharpe. I don't really feel he's the best fit for the morning drive, but he definitely deserves a spot on KFYI in some capacity.

KFYI has lost it's edge; a few years ago the station was operating at peak performance absolutely killing KTAR in the 12+ and A25-54's. There's just not a lot that's overly hip about KFYI these days... and I don't mean "hip" like trying to cram two 45 year-olds into PM drive and making them seem hip, I mean just trying to be competitive with an adult crowd. Without Jacobs and any kind of real spark in the afternoon, I think the station doesn't have any 'fire'. Sure, you'll do fine with Rush and Sean, but in terms of local flavor, there isn't any whatsoever. Barry Young sounds as though he's doing the station a favor by going to any remote (smackdown) event and Broomhead doesn't have any real traction in the market.

I have nothing against Mike Broomhead or Terry Gilberg, but in terms of entertainment value... it's lacking--absolutely no passion, not a lot of style and fairly shallow substance.

though...maybe I just like typing "Mooooooo!" ;D
 
Barry has become a real dick lately.

Today, he went completely off on a caller without listening to her (as usual), cut her off and just acted like a first class jerk.

Barry, that's bad form and bad radio....

The show has become tired, predictable, and harder to listen to.
 
Barry was blathering about it being not safe to go to Rocky Point, a caller informed Barry that the report about safety for this weekend was baloney, she goes down every week.

Barry didn't want to hear it, instead he just ran all over her and acted like a real tool.

The station changed after that exchange.

Anyone who thinks it's safe to go to Rocky Point (Puerto Penasco for fans of Los Suns) or anywhere else in Meh Hee Coe right now has sand for brains! Not even their own government has control of the country.

As far as the Nearly Bald One goes...sure he's a dick who blathers on and on, but he gets ratings. Would you rather they go Toaster Talk and be civil to all callers, regardless of some of the dumbass things said? Not Los Buckeye Boyz. We'll take the Nearly Bald One every time 'cause he's entertaining as all hell.
 
I was in Mexico 3 weeks ago, totally safe where I was, and I stayed outside of the turista zone.

I have no problem if Barry is going after a dumbass or a nut, but he accused this person of being a seminar caller and crawled all up her butt, it was embarassing for him.

Good question! When the wind is blowing in a certain direction, Nurse Jeff and I can hear Raul practicing on his accordion (the walls on that Tuff Shed must be paper thin!). We'd venture a guess this Friday's musica will come from south of la frontera in honor of Los Suns pending victory contra Los Lakers!
