Barry Young talks retirement ..clap clap

He was saying it was his "last anniversary show" ..Sharpe was commenting on it too. His side-chick was gone again too.

Can Jim Sharpe handle a five hour shift?

YIKES!

Not to reopen an old can of worms ;D, but for eight months of the year, El Rushbo can air
live starting at 9 AM, resulting in only a four-hour air shift for the Sharpemeister.

Maybe they will get another warm up boy if Sharpe takes the Young spot. Does JD Hayworst like getting up early? Or maybe Babinski? But Babinski would have to stop wearing his cap backwards if he became a real live talk show host, something he would not do.

Of course then there is Bruce Jacobs.

How 'bout giving a couple hours a day to The World's Most Interesting Man (aka Michael Hagerty)? He could retell tales of glory, accomplishment, and conquests of nubile women. Heck, if TWMIM can change Cinco de Mayo to Dos de Mayo, he can easily replace TNBO. Stay follicular my friend!

Apart from accomplishment, those are very old tales, Doc.

I don't always reply to posts on the Phoenix Radio Board, but when I do, I want to be sure my wife of 25 years knows that my conquesting days stopped 26 years ago.

Stayin' married, my friend.

Barely is so needy.

His show is so much better when the smart Barry fills in.

Put in Barry Markson, find another sugar daddy for the debutant and ship her out, and have an actual show that isn't pure polarizing baloney.

...and that is why you've always been a class act, Michael.

Whenever I tune in & hear that pompous Barry Markson, I immediately turn the dial.
I can't stand that bag of hot air. I'd rather listen to Tim & Willie before hearing Markson drone on for 3 hrs. If Mr. Young leaves, Michelle might have to go find a real job she's more qualified for (which is ____?)

Is Barry M forbidden to use the applause sound effects? Is that in Barry Y's contract? Only he can play applause? Barry M must not know how to run a show if he does use sound effects.

They can run another hour of Noori and then the Wall Street show feed, then run the tnbo replacement from 6 to 9, then Limberger 9 to 12

The mimosa infused side-chick can then co host a weekend law call in show with Barry Marxium

I've been a podcast listener since I left Chandler. I changed the station when Barry M was on when I lived in Arizona and I skip the podcast when he is on now. The only time that I have listened to a complete show that he was on was the holiday specials when they did a round table with a few hosts. I like his banter when he talks to Babinski, but that doesn't keep me tuned in either. This is not a slam, but I understand where you are coming from Billkex.

Given the talk today about Limbaugh (fueled by a Drudge linked article about: Lou Dickey v. Limbaugh) Are KFYIs local hosts a bunch of "little Limbaughs?"

Lou Dickey can't blame it all on El Rushbo as his outfit owns a bunch of Ancient Modulation dinosaurs which would probably be a lot worse off without the E.I.B. As far as KFWhyEyers being "little Limbaughs", the Nurse and I think not. However "all things politics" has most likely seen better days.

Dickey has been on this kick for what, 6 months now? So you are probably right, Limbaugh is a convenient whipping boy, surprised he hasn't responded earlier. Maybe the financial house of cards used to buy the stations is the underlying problem.

(Drudge's radio show went "bye bye," so he may have a chip on his shoulder too. After all, most of the talk people use his website as a show outline.)

Smart phone ads and coupons are getting more competitive and effective so that means radio is under more pressure. I still see some of the local hosts as "little Limbaughs" losing advertising appeal, but maybe wine and cheeseburgers are still popular when it is 120 degrees out?

I have the same reaction to Barry M.

I happen to enjoy listening to the guy from Tucson when he fills in for Broomhead - Garrett Lewis. Thoughts on him as a replacement?

I also remember when Terry Gilberg was on in the mornings - what happened to that? She'd be great for the morning or early morning.
