Barsky Back!

At first i lost respect for WYSP dumping the rock format, so at least they got my voite back by being HFS-ness. But they lost that vote again by bring Barsky back. When will people learn that bringing back old talent doesn't work. Especially "talent" with no talent. While he was great on HOT HITS and even in his prime at Y100, Mr. Barsky's time has come and go. Kudos to Vinnie The Crumb though!

And I thought he was dead in this city. I am shocked he is back, especially for a midday slot (not that there's anything wrong with middays). I like him though, and I'm glad to see him back, especially with Vinnie.

Can't help but agree. But maybe this show will be different. I mean, it's all an act. Hopefully Barsky will be updating his a bit.

Is BARSKY the only jock in this city to work for every company?

let's see:

the old Dan Lerner Y100
Westinghouse (HOT HITS)
Infinity (WYSP)
Greater Media (WMMR/MAX 95.7 [remember them?])
Beasley (96.5 The Point)

Well i guess it's safe to say No he hasn't...No Clear Channel or Radio One (in Philly at least)...When are people gonna get a clue??

I dunno Rob when are they. I imagine you're still gainfully employed in one of these companies. When will they get a clue?

Hey, Vinnie needs something to do when he isn't being the in-stadium announcer for the Philadelphia Barrage outdoor lacrosse down at Villanova stadium.

Barsky obviously has some redemming appeal among Radio programmers and decision makers. Why else would he have been on sooooo many philly stations through out his career. Besides, I wonder about his detractors, have They been on the air as much as Barsky??

In fact I am not employed by ANY radio station or company in the entire world. i am just a big radio fan to be honest. But I mean when will people realize that hiring Barfsky ISN'T the answer.

I think people on the board hate on Barsky cause its perceived as COOL. There are honestly sooo many people worse than him on the air. Sure there may be a few better but I think Barsky will do real well on all talk station. I always liked his stuff sure I know its personal preference but I just don't see what the detractors do.

Mixed Emotions about the flip

Most of you can tell by my posts that I am an MMR fan, critical of their mistakes and complimentary when they do something right. That does not make me a YSP hater. I think that competition makes everyone try harder to turn out a better product. GM will be left as the only Rock source in market #6. That sucks. MMR and MGK already overlap eachother in too many areas, that needs to change.

The Hot Talk lineup that YSP is going to have could work, but I wish the rock format did not have to bite the dust to find out. I'm sure there be talk of another station flipping to rock, like WIRED, but that has been said before. Did anyone else besides Tommy Conwell lose their job?

Barsky's a good host. He's just not a "franchise" host the way Stern is, and so he wasn't up to the task of saving 95.7 or 96.5. People won't go out of their way to listen to him, but they will listen to him if he's on a station they like already, like the former Y100.

His role in Philadelphia radio is similar to Chio or John Debella. Both do decently ratings-wise, but if they switched stations, I doubt their audiences would follow.

Personally, it's time for the Burrito in the morning show to take it's tired ass out to pasture. Q102 needs a new act.

WTF WAS INFINITY THINKING??!?!?
