Barsky Show...good?

When I heard Barsky this midday, Kim Douglas actually was a huge part of the show. I listened for about 40 minutes while she recounted a lesbian affair she'd had once. They even got the other girl on the phone.

This was more than we normally hear from Kim and I actually liked her today. I've heard her on other stations and doing other things--and naturally on other stations as Barsky's sidekick--and I normally find her to be completely talentless. This was refreshing!

The show was funny today. I actually laughed. And I kept it on! That has never ever happened to me. Did these folks finally find a magic bullet or something?

Anyway, congratulations to The Barsky Show for a show that didn't suck for once. If they can keep it going, maybe they'll get to replace "Roth Radio" when it is finally put out of our misery.

I don't listen to Barsky much...but the one time I did a month or two ago (maybe more), Douglas was telling a story about a lesbian love affair. Maybe the same one. I don't think they had the other woman on the phone. Was this a repeat or do they just love the story that much?

This is one of the reasons I tune out from the Barsky show.
I don't have any desire to hear about lesbian stories. I like Kim but
I think Barsk may be using her bi-sexuality to attract more guys to the show.
I miss Barsky's parodies ...He's not doing what he's known for.
He used to blow me away. I would like to hear some comedy more than sexual escapades bi or straight really. I can buy porn for that if I want.
But since Barsky's on middays he hasn't been the same. I liked the show with Vinnie and Ben Maxwell when they were on WMMR.. Something clicked there and I guess it was just a one time thing.

I was about to make a thread asking if the show has gotten better, because I haven't seen as many posts bashing it. It's a possibility alot of people just aren't listening.
Edited by SCRHack on 03/21/06 03:50 AM.

Yes, an intersting bit...at least for the guys. The other woman is Kris Gamble, formerly from WPST and Star 104.5. She's now at Hot 99.5 in D.C.

I also miss some of the old Barsly bits...like the Y100 Phone Scams an song parodies, etc...

I've been a HUGE Barsky fan for years (one of the few). This new incarnation is awful though. Everyday is the same thing about Kim Douglas recounting some lesbian/bi-sexual affair. It has really started to bother me. For all of the years I listened to Barsky and Kim they never talked about this and now it is an EVERYDAY part of the show. It's very predictable, too. I sit at work everyday saying, "Oops...here comes the daily dose of Kim's stories." It is a blatant attempt to grab listeners, but isn't working on me.

I'm really sick of it and it is quickly turning me into one of the Barsky bashers on here. I hope he gets back to some of the funny stuff that made me listen before.

I would rather hear important talk about the troubled world and our role in it. I am a 21 year old male, the perfect target for FREE, and I don't care for all this sex talk, the lesbian thing is getting old, and all females do not want to go to bed pronto, like the hosts want you to believe, its all fluff and lies. I for one am not interested in lesbians, I guess the station thinks my kind is interested in it, all guys are not interested in girl with girl, personally I think its vulgar and crude. I find myself tuning in to the big talker more and more, rather than FREE. BTW your email addy is not legit.

I heard Barsky say that he's not allowed to do the phone scams anymore, something about being against company policy. As far as Kim's Lesbian stories goes, the station appeals to MEN. And to be honest her stories are just a fraction of the show. I listen quite often and think this is his best show yet. It's consistantly entertaining and compelling

Barsky & the rest of Free Fm

Honestly, I know a lot of people have really dogged 94, but I don't think it's all that bad. Roth is a trainwreck yes...but Barsky sounds good, Kidd is really starting to smoke, Ed is still good, he just needs to do it on his own and matt and huggy are actually more entertaining than I thought they'd be. I think it's still too early, but don't count 94 out just yet.

...and before PST, WIP pre-Rhea Hughes...

Sorry Paul- it's not even bad enough to be entertaining.

I have never posted here before, but I always love to read the posts. For years Barsky and his sidekickers(aka laughers) post a million messages on how brilliant and wacky the show is. Meanwhile, Y100 canned him, he brought WMMR to last place before being fired and The Point changed format instead of dealing with his low numbers. Like a spoiled baby, he sued the company to make even more money than he deserved. Jesus, he failed at soo many stations and still made millions.

WYSP was forced to throw on a midday talk show, and he was availble. My wife has a good friend who works there who says the show's numbers are so awful they can't be spinned. He will be fired most likely in the next few months, and will cash in and try to copy his idol Stern and SUE AGAIN!

Let's say I tried to sell his show before..

Looks like someone's got a real personal problem with Mr. Barsky. Your obvious personal jealousy and bitterness toward Barsky invalidates any sort of credibility you might have. In fact it's laughable that a radio guy can get someone so worked up.You sound so bitter!Don't blame him because he got screwed over by his former employer and sued to get what was rightfully his. You would have done the same thing. Also Barsky quit MMR and was NEVER fired. I read the legal briefings from his lawsuit, it's public record. Also according to court records he had very high ratings at MMR and left to make more money at the Point. As far as your post regarding Kim Douglas you said she was in her 50's. If you REALLY worked with her as you said you would know that she isn't even close to 50, so your "credibity" is ZERO. You're just like many others who post here...full of bull. Once again, nice try.Go ahead and please read your post. The jealousy is laughable. Do you really think Barsky or other REAL pros care what 10 radio dweebs like us think? If you do then I've got a bridge to sell you.

I disagree. I think the show is much better now especially with no music. As far as the parodies, didn't you hear his Brokeback Mountain song? It was hillarious.

Even your posts aren't funny Paul.

Oh Paul, Paul, Paul Barsky.. If you wasted as much time working on being a radio personality as you did with your Internet propoganda machine, you may one day finish in the top 15.

1- I know the old PD at 'MMR and he offered you a contract that was so low KNOWING YOU WOULDN'T TAKE IT!

2- The guys that replaced you Gram(sp?) and Vinnie, got BETTER numbers than you and the laugh track. And even though you cried that "They made me play music" those guys played more. HOW COME THEY DID BETTER?

3-If you were so great, why didn't The Point(where we worked together) survive? A strong morning show will life the station.

4- How come Preston and Steve are killing? Why aren't you killing?

Nice job, good luck selling your 1 share.

Of all the different incarnations of the Barsky show, the MMR version was also my favorite. They seemed like a perfect fit there together, and I was dissapointed when the relationship between Barsky and MMR went south.

If I had known that you were B-Dub & Barsky, I would never have backed up any of your posts! ;)
