Barter Programming

I offer a weather service, and though I love doing it, it hasn't been as financially lucrative as I had hoped. I want to bring another on board to help, as time can sometimes get tight on my own.

It seems most stations I have contacted, or have contacted me, are looking for barter for the services.

I'm not all that savvy on barter, but I also know if I don't have enough stations aboard for a barter situation, I won't have sponsors for the spots. Seems like a Catch 22 situation.

Currently, stations on board are in Ohio (Cincinnati), North Carolina (Charlotte Area) and in California (Sacramento and San Francisco). These stations are direct pay, which I also do not have an issue with for obvious reasons.

If you have ideas on how to go forward, companies that would be willing to do barter on a small time basis until things get rolling, I would be greatly appreciative.

Contact Envision Radio Networks, Benztown Branding (now repped by Cumulus Media), Premiere Radio, etc to inquire as to whether they think there's a viable revenue stream with barter. You'd be competing with The Weather Channel, Accu-Weather and a few others.

Thanks for the info.

TWC and Accu-Weather do offer weather forecasts, but not so much as it pertains to a personalized weather forecast for a particular area for radio IMHO.

Still, hard to compete with TWC on anything. They have an impressive repertoire of expertise, along with information available to the general public.
