Bartley/ABC Split

All Access is reporting that Dick Bartley and ABC Radio syndication
are/will be parting ways.

It was mentioned that affils of his two shows are getting a "90-day
notice of cancellation" which would appear to mean that R&RGH and
AmGold will continue through late March.

If Dick Bartley leaves ABC Radio Networks, who will distribute his two shows? Or will they be discontinued?

Having met Dick before and consider that he's one of the best "oldies jocks" in the business, I wish him well, and look forward to seeing him surface with something new down the road.

I've always loved his show and wanted to air it, but ABC basically told me to pound sand. Hopefully if he keeps it going and self-syndicates I could join :)

Good memories of Dick back in the late 80s when I was 8 years old and used to tape his show on cassette. Still have 'em and every once in a while it's good to relive the past! The particular show I listened to recently was featuring "frat rock classics" with clips from Animal House interspersed, BRILLIANT!

Ain't it grand to have a network that is owned by a corporation worth 11 cents a share telling you that they don't need your business? If they tell you as a customer to pound sand, imagine how poorly they must treat the people who work with them, who don't appreciate prospective customers being abused.

Hope Dick is able to continue his show. I first remember him when he worked in Chicago in the 70s & then started "Solid Gold Saturday Night" in the early 80s.

Well, I stand corrected - 1 cent per share. I like Dick Bartley programming, but cynic that I am I have to figure he will show up or he won't. We didn't get blindsided with the vanishing act that networks were able to perform before the Internet, so we are concerned for him ahead of time. It's his life, he does what he has to do, he isn't spilling the beans.
