I want to write a thread about my honest and sincere thoughts about the BAS Broadcasting organization and my approval of the things they have been doing right.
I have had the opportunity to visit a few colleagues in the Sandusky market recently, and listened to Mix and Coast Country. The stations truly have a much better sound as they are using Waitt Radio Networks. Waitt of course has been recognized by the RAB and NAB as the best syndication company for 24/7 formats in the recent years, and if you didn't know the stations were using Waitt supplied product, you would think that the staff was based in Sandusky.
There have been comments on these boards about all the things that the organization has done wrong in the past, and I have only fueled the fire in a few of my posts. While my posts were not meant or directed to be anti-Bas, they may have come across that way to individuals in the organization and I sincerely apologize. I also may have been misdirected in a few posts as well, and I apologize for those comments too.
Im excited about the things that Bas Broadcasting is doing, and the programming decisions they are making with the assistance of Waitt Radio Networks. In my field, I currently consult radio stations and sales groups in Pennsylvania, Indiana, Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina, Illinois, Kentucky and Tennessee. In three markets we have become WRN affiliates and the ratings have improved along with stronger cash flow. Bas Broadcasting has been making positive strides in the previous months to supply better programming, stronger community news and the like to their audiences and clients, and this is what radio is about! Kudos go to Jim and TK with their efforts to make radio great again!
While it is my sincere wish that they would bring on a group consultant or hire a corporate program director, to continually enhance the day by day listening experience, I also understand the list of needs and the order of time in which they need to be done.
All the best to those in the BAS Organization, and keep your chins up, radio is something we all have a deep and rooted passion for. I only ask that others show the same respect to local radio owners and operators.
