BA's quest to put more of a face on the SJ format

BROADCAST ARCHITECTURE has launched their "smooth news" service. The service is live and available for SMOOTH JAZZ NETWORK affiliates and is fed directly from the company’s websites http://www.smoothjazznetwork.com and www.smoothjazztop20.com.

BA Pres. ALLEN KEPLER states, "We see this as a very important service for our affiliates as well as the music industry. There is no consistent, up to the minute, source for news completely focused on the music that Smooth Jazz/Smooth AC radio plays. Our site has news gathered from various news sources and directly from the artists themselves. It’s available for our SMOOTH JAZZ NETWORK affiliate websites at no charge via our RSS feed. When we update news stories, the news automatically updates on radio station websites. We encourage artists and managers to continue to feed news, anecdotes and interesting tidbits from all of their artists as this adds one more layer to our quest to enhance the connection between the listeners and our artists."

He continues, "This is just one more step in our quest to put more of a 'face' on the format. Our innovation and launch of the SMOOTH JAZZ NETWORK just over a year ago with artist hosts DAVE KOZ, RAMSEY LEWIS, KENNY G, NORMAN BROWN, BRIAN CULBERTSON and PAUL HARDCASTLE was a beginning, however now we are aggressively entering the online world with concert tour information, links to artist websites, the Smooth Jazz Top 20 Countdown chart/site, feedback tracks and even a CD store."

wow. what an amazing, innovative idea. smooth news. who would have thought? thank goodness we have such a ground-breaking network running our favorite kind of music. this latest invention should be enough to have another 2 watt station 4 hours outside a big city pick up the network and bill it as another major market on the smooth jazz network. LOL

It's as innovative as using the "slider" on internet music testing. Wow, the creativity just stuns me. SmartJock has been doing such a strong job on this front for years that I really hate seeing them displaced by this sterile monolithic corporation. Now I guess the artists will have to kiss up to BA not just for airplay but for news coverage too.

Smart jock actually needs to wake up. I have run across more dated information and artists who have new projects out and the last update on there information is 2004?

Nock

This better light a fire under his booty..is this on the subscription service? Is he charging for outdated material? I have found that people don't understand the need to keep online info timely and updated. Al Jarreau's website bio ends with the release of a CD in 2000 ???

So far most of the news info I've seen on the BA site (smoothjazztop20.com) is about R&B crosover artists. Whitney, Al Green, Wayne Brady, Alicia Keys etc
