Baseball Coverage

I preferred the old version as well. I guess they wanted to sound more hip. This is gonna be a long season for the Redlegs I'm afraid.

Another thing - Chick has an excellent trove of guests he can access, unlike some others that just rant on and on, don't take calls, and don't intersperse interesting guests.

Bangart & Blaser (or something) - Extra Innings - nooooo. What??? WLW doesn't want to pay for a pro like Chick? Way better with callers.

Yeah - way too boring to call in to.

Both of their voices are similar - like corp. spokesmen. If Bangart wants a news job - give it to him. You got a personality like Chick and knowledgeable, and don't use him. They gave Chick a 25 min. segment after one of the games, and like a pro he worked in about 10 calls!

Good for him! Maybe Chick will end up at Fox Sports. WLW should sign him while he is a free agent.

Why does I Heart make things so difficult?! I signed in to listen to podcast. No dice - click on - nada, zilch. Tryin to listen to Ken Broo podcast about firing the Reds mgr. - ANYTHING but listening to extra innings with Bangart & Blaser. They add absolutely no insights into the season - just the most OBVIOUS commentary and analysis possible. They do not get the good callers.

It seems to me that they do not have many callers bashing the team as they did in years past. I've also notice that they'll take a call then go to commercials which are longer than the program. I know I heart is in debt but the commercial breaks are way too long. I agree, Bangart and Blaser aren't very good. I long for the days of Andy MacWilliams or Andy Furman.

GOT THAT RIGHT - would love to hear either one. Tried to listen to Furman on other station but they paired him with another bombastic voice and I can hardly follow that guy. Plus it's not local.

Here's a new twist. Dan Hoard doing "Extra Innings" (also using Chick's lead in music)? Sure he does great on UC basketball and Bengals. Now baseball too? I, of course, think there should be a single host (Chickster the funster) on the show with more baseball background and connections.

Why is He talking UC sports when it's baseball season? What are they doing over there?
To clarify - they've got him doing the baseball. It seems to me - WLW is bending over backwards to avoid the obvious best choice to do "Extra Innings". Also no callers. Don't like - won't listen.

Well, Dan was talking UC Sports, Bengals and mixing in Reds Baseball talk with it. They shouldn't call it extra innings if it is more than just talking Baseball. You're right, no one was calling in so that means listeners are tuning out.

Oh wow - ha - I had missed that. Yeah -really missing the mark. Baseball fans like to have an outlet!

Reds finish series in Atlanta, and 700 right back to what passes for regular programming. Forget "Extra Innings" anyway- it's blandsville now. That's media now. Kinda like the baseball management here. And no wonder the Reds were lackluster today - after the players worked to get even last night, only to have Alfredo Simon given free rein to give the whole thing away.

I hate to say this but WLW is as bad as the Reds are now, when it comes to what passes for talk programming. Like the Reds WLW has become a small market talk station. Especially what passes for on air hosts that are on Extra innings.

My theory is that Willie and Mike suck up a big portion of the budget, forcing WLW to have to settle for mediocre hosts without much radio experience like Rocky to fill the rest of the schedule. On top of that I always hear people say evening ad rates for radio are atrocious.
