Baseball of FM why not sports talk?

With the Braves starting the 2010 season today you have to wonder how long it will be before Rock 100 flips to Sports talk. They are carrying the games so why not sports talk all day as well. You could keep the Regular Guys in the morning. Look how well Toucher & Rich are doing in Boston.

What's the point of restricting sports coverage to within the immediate market?
One should be able to leave Atlanta in the car as the game is beginning, tune in WSB, and listen to darn near
the whole game on the radio as they drive a couple hundred miles.
Within that couple hundred miles are a LOT of people who want to hear the game, love the team, could almost never make it to a game,
and generate a LOT of regional support for the team.

Why cut all these people off by going on an FM signal?

Because Clear Channel whored themselves out to get the Braves in the first place away from WSB. Cox realized they can make money without them and didn't bid on getting them back when the contract expired.

You lie with dogs you get fleas, the Braves organization is finding that out now. Should have stayed with Cox but Clear Channel waved just too much money in front of them.

I could hear the Braves way up here in Kentucky, and enjoyed listening to them. While that was nice, I didn't do much for the advertising bottom line. Besides, I have listened to them on XM radio and the current line up of announcers make my ears bleed. Guess I'll just wait to read the box score in tomorrow's paper.

Some corporations seem determined to accquire new customers by p***ing off the old ones.

Oh, boy! First, no one is cutting anyone off with anything. The Braves have the biggest list of regional affiliates in MLB. Second, people who listen to WSB outside of the ratings survey area for Atlanta stations don't count toward ratings and certainly do not not generate any revenue.

Who wants to change stations over and over while driving, looking for regional affiliates when an Atlanta station
should be audible over a dozen states? The regionals need some other programming.

Many many people prefer the old delivery method.
Just because many people have created an RF mess in their environment doesn't mean all have nor should all suffer
equally poor MW reception because some do.

Much like the Braves on a heritage AM signal in Atlanta, the relevance of newspapers won't be around for good...

This wouldn't be anywhere as big an issue if ATL had a second class A clear. Not every bit of programming can be on WSB.

They don't need sports talk all day. FM talk makes more sense with a sports show at night.
