I spent 7/21-7/24 in Bethlehem, PA (Allentown Market) and two Allentown stations, not co-owned carry The Philadelphia Phillies. WTKZ ESPN 1320, which is owned by Nassau and WKAP OLDIES 1470, which is owned by Clear Channel. WTKZ and WKAP are both licensed to Allentown. WTKZ I was told simulcasts an out of market station. Even if this is the case, I think WTKZ should black out the Phillies becuase in Worcester, Mass WVEI 1440, which is a simulcast of WEEI Boston blacks out the Redsox since they're on WTAG 580 in Worcester. WEEI-FM in Westerly/Providence does the same since in Providence the Redsox are on WPRO 630. In Allentown WKAP had the Phillies first because up until October 2004 WTKZ was Spanish LaMega 1320. (Unrelated Note: Interestingly enough the FCC's database shows 1320 was WKAP until October 1994). At 5000 watts day and night WKAP 1470 is the most powerful of the two stations. WTKZ is only 750 watts day time and 195 watts at night.

In Connecticut the teams are on only one station per market:

Hartford:
Yankees: WPOP 1410 - CC
Redsox: WTIC 1080 - Infinity

Waterbury:
Yankees: WWCO 1240 - Buckley

New Haven:
Redsox: WQUN 1220 - Quinnipiac

Bridgeport:
Yankees: WICC 600 - Cumulus

Danbury:
Yankees: WLAD 800 - Berkshire Broadcasting

New London:
Redsox: WXLM 102.3 - Citadel

Fairfield County:
Redsox: WGCH 1490 - BTR

Cities Not part of any market:
Redsox:
WILI 1400 Willimantic - Hall Broadcasting
WINY 1350 Putnam - Osbrey Broadcasting

Milwaukee Brewers are on all over Wisconsin via The Brewers Radio Network. Here's the ones I know by heart:

Milwaukee: 50kw flagship 620 WTMJ. Covers most of the state.
Madison: 1310 WIBA and 101.5 WIBA
Stevens Point: 99.9 WIZD
Sturgeon Bay: 910 and 93.9 WDOR
Beaver Dam: 1430 WBEV

There's plenty more. By the way all except for WIZD are within WTMJ's coverage area.

Re: Baseball on the Radio-Could Phillies Be An Exception?

From talks I have had with people in different parts of the country, I am led to believe that the Phillies have some special deal. I do not know of any other team that lets radio stations stream the games over the net. The Phillies do. A friend in LA was able to listen to a game against the Dodgers on a station that streamed the Phillies and I think he had three choices.

Why do you think that the games should be limited? Maybe the Phillies are making money from both stations.

Re: Baseball on the Radio-Could Phillies Be An Exception?

No, the Phillies don't allow streaming, per MLB. Any station streaming MLB games is doing so in violation of agreements with MLB and MLB.com. There are plenty of stations streaming MLB games, including some of the flagships! That does not mean they are doing so legally.

Last year on either the Philly or New Jersey board somebody posted that the Phillies' only requirements for network stations were "a check and a stick"--there was no exclusivity at all in the contract. There are a lot of places where you can hear their games clearly on more than one station. I don't think I've ever heard of two separately owned stations with the same COL carrying them before, but they came very close in 2003-04, when they were on WMID in Atlantic City and had a partial schedule on WUSS in Pleasantville, which used to be licensed to AC.

Then those stations just shut the stream down during the game. At least that's how it's supposed to work.

New York City's WCBS-AM (News) streams News online while the WCBS-AM on regular radio has the Yankees.
