Baseball Playoffs

Try the big New York AM stations

WCBS-880 is the Yankees' flagship; it'll have the Yanks' Game 1 at 8 ET on Tuesday, Game 2 at 8 ET on Wednesday and Game 3 at 8 ET on Friday. The 880 signal should be no problem as the daytimers on 860 and 900 will have signed off for the night.

WFAN-660 is the Mets' flagship; it'll have the Mets' Game 1 at 4 ET on Wednesday, Game 2 at 8 ET on Thursday and Game 3 at a time TBA on Saturday. For the day game you'll have to tune carefully to avoid the splatter from Radio Disney on 640.

Thanks for the info but I rather hear the ESPN Radio broadcasts.
 
Julius: listen to the stations that Chucky suggested. Stop being a spoiled brat. Listen to what broadcasts that are provided or shut your radio off or watch the television coverage.

Philadelphia will not become a better radio market if they air the baseball playoff games that you demanded. There is more to it than that. We have explained to you time and time again what that "more" is...and you refuse to accept what we tell you.

I think you're on to something.

It has to be the ESPN broadcast - not the Yankees' or Mets' broadcasts (with announcers who have been covering their teams all season long).
In another post, it has to be the Westwood One broadcasts of NFL games - again, not the teams' broadcasts (with those - yuck - local announcers like Merrill Reese).
It's not about being able to hear a game on the radio.
It's not even about listening to the game on the radio (since Julius watches games on TV like everybody else).
It's about NOT being able to listen to ESPN or Westwood One.
Wah! (I imagine a Lucy Ricardo type "Waaaaaah!")

"Every other market" gets to hear ESPN and Westwood One.
All these network programs and Julius can't listen.
Maybe he thinks they are talking about HIM!

And poor Merrill Reese: Not good enough for Julius. He's local (shudder)!

The Mets are playing the Dodgers. I guess Vin Scully isn't good enough for Julius either. He only does the Dodger team broadcasts in the LA market (which probably have more listeners on their LA station than ESPN picks up with a coast to coast collection of flea-bite and turn-key stations in "minor markets"). Vin Scully learned his trade from Red Barber, the greatest baseball announcer of all time, and has been doing Dodger games since the Dodgers were in Brooklyn but I guess Vin didn't make the cut in Bristol, CT.

Too bad WPHT picked up Smerconish. Philly is the number six market and we should get to hear Imus like every other market.
Let's do away with local radio entirely.
That's what Julius wants. Therefore, that's how it SHOULD be.
 
Julius, you can listen to WCKY out of Cincinnati on 1530 AM. They'll be running the games from ESPN and I think they put a pretty good nighttime signal over the east coast at night. It's even better two hours after Eastern sunset. Can you wait that long?
 
Can someone please find out if any of the the Philly radio stations will be airing today's games?

Here. lets make this really easy. You don't even need to call them. Just buy today's paper. In the sports section, they list all sporting event for the day that will be aired locally. They list whats coming on both TV, and radio. If any games are on today locally, they will be listed in the paper's sports section.
 
I think we have the fodder for the Julius May Commentary Friday night.

I don't have easy access to the papers. They don't even list that radio/tv info on philly.com

Or are you physically incapable of walking to the store (assuming you don't or can't drive) and buying a newspaper. C'mon this is 2006.

I am able to get the newspaper but its too far away to get the inquirer.
 
The store is too far away? Are you kidding? It seems that every residental area in Philadelphia has some kind of Corner Store on every other corner. Corner stores sell newspapers. I understand that you are "home bound," but I think your mother can go to the store "on your behalf" and spare 50 cents for a Philly Inquirer or 60 cents for a Daily News.

No, we will not e-mail WPHT, WPEN, or any other stations "on your behalf" with your silly demands for out-of-market sports broadcasts. Too bad they blocked your e-mail address and your IP address. It's your own fault, not ours. Ask one of those internet radio show people to complain "on your behalf." They stick up for you often.

Let me correct something, I'm no longer home bound. I do go out to the store almost every day and able to get the newspaper if they have it but they dont sell the Inquirer, just the daily news. I also go out with my job coach every week so we can know each other and takes me to places so i'm no longer home bound. Enough about me.

Or open a free email address.
They can't keep you blocked unless you let them.

That said, there is no need to obsess about this.
The games will be on or they won't.
They probably won't but either way, there is nothing you can do.
They won't change the schedule because you complain.
Turn on your radio and tune around. If the game is on, you'll find it.

Don't worry. Be happy.

PS: If you look for it, the Daily News also lists sports broadcasts.
 
Mr. Irish: Mr. May's M.O. is to post the same message on every message board he can find (i.e. spamming). On every board I have visited over the years, spamming is against the rules...but Julius seems to find a way to get around the rules. Or the Moderators simply allow Julius to break rules...and threaten to ban others who do the same thing...or complain about the obvious Rule Violators. Julius is right about everything...and everyone else is wrong.

Julius: No..there is none of this "enough about me" crap. You claim that you can't get to the store...because it's too far away. If you make outlandish claims like that (which has already been proven to be a lie), you are going to be held accountable for that particular comment. Don't post B.S. on here and expect it to be ignored...because I will hold you responsible for every silly comment you make...things like that you don't have any money, then claim later on that your Mother can buy blank audio tapes for you...the list goes on.

On a lighter note, I am happy for you that you get out of the house, and you are working with the Job Coach. Perhaps your Job Coach can take you to a store that sells the Inquirer...or just ask your Mother to find that newspaper for you? Or ask the owner of your usual corner store if they can start selling the Inquirer?

I guess so. Today I visited the Phillies board too see what was being said about Manuel being retained. First post I see is this http://www.forums.mlb.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=ml-phillies&msg=42561.1&ctx=0

I starting to understand why he post the same questions over and over, and whty he always asks for someone to do it for him. It must be hard for him to keep track on which boards he has posted this at, which might explain why he keeps posting the same questions here.
