Baseball screws up FOX's X-Factor

Why did they show The X-Factor on Sunday night anyways? They could have aired episodes of Family Guy, The Simpsons, Cleveland Show and American Dad from last season unless those episodes are already in the syndicated rerun cycle except for Cleveland which is not in syndication.

Fox baseball coverage is screwed up in general....................Tim McCarver has stayed too long at the fair............................

They need to let baseball go the ratings don't justify it.
Well, ratings in markets other than NYC. If the Yankees were in the ALCS, even with afternoon start times the ratings would be higher. Nobody outside of NYC, it seems, cares about baseball, and the ratings unfortunately bear that out.

I was listening to Randy Galloway the other night on ESPN 103.3 FM and he said the reason the Sunday game was postponed was because (a) Fox didn't want to deal with another rain delay (it was an afternoon game not a night game) and (b) their regular Sunday night lineup would fare better ratings-wise than a baseball game with rain delays (the Saturday ratings bear that out). So he's saying Fox told MLB to postpone, and MLB agreed. Won't see the same thing happen today with the AL Championship possibly on the line.

I am really ticked off, but somehow should not be surprised, to read about this. Gee, I didn't know if FOX pulls Selig's strings. ::)

Woulda **loved** to hear the FOX announcers during the Sunday NFL game explain truthfully *why* there was no game, as opposed to a rain delay.

I guess the only satisfaction in this, is that their meal-ticket teams are no longer in the hunt.

cd

Following last night's game, KSAZ Phoenix (currently the equivalent of Pacific Daylight Time, but with a Mountain Time prime schedule) aired an episode of The X Factor from 7:40-9:40. I assume this was a rerun of the most recent episode? Did other Fox stations in the Mountain/Pacific time zones do the same?

I knew this will be posted for those FOX fans want to watch thier shows this week but they have baseball playoffs. On Sunday 10/9/11 during the NFL games on FOX if u saw it or not they said MLB Playoffs on FOX Sunday in TX has been cancel due to the rain. It will move to Monday @4pm. So on monday I watch House but FOX show the game tied on monday night utill 8:53pm FOX aired Terra Nova then House @9:53pm. Your 10pm news cast some of them went to your local CW stations since FOX still doing baseball or doing thier show late after baseball.

They have FX but don't use it for moving programs over when Sports programs run long and also has FSN but it's local not a National Channel.
I would say ESPN for whole Postseason.

FOX is also inconsistent with their coverage. Sometimes they bail at the first sign of trouble. Yet the other day FOX filled all 2+ hours of that rain delay. Today FOX could have easily broadcasted postgame until the top of the hour. But no, let's throw it back to the local stations for ten minutes of news, or in some cases, to JIP their 7:30/6:30 programming.

The next time the contract is up for bid, I really think ESPN will throw everything they have at it.

Would have been great for ESPN to get into the mix-as it shares The MLB Post-Season with TBS, While FOX carries The World Series. Just like they did with TNT for its NBA coverage, while big sister ABC carries The NBA Finals. It would have been easy that way, so The prime time TV season will remain shown uninterrupted.

Run the games earlier or stop the hour of rag chewing before the game starts. Also the rag chewing continues after the game is over for about 30 minutes. That goes for and sports games.ESPN should buy the rights for all sports programing. They got the bucks to do so.After the raping us with their over inflated subscriber fees.

Yes. Mountain/Pacific/Alaska/Hawai'i all got a replay of the last episode, with lots of PSAs and - brace yourself - regular credits.

BTW: for those interested, tonight's originally scheduled episode will air Sunday at 8/7 PM, assuming there's no ALCS Game 7.

Sounds very TPIR-like on Eastern/Central pre-emption days :)

I think the MLB and MLB Postseason needs to leave FOX. If FOX cares more about their primetime then why bother having MLB and the postseason.

Could we see CBS, NBC, or ABC take the MLB and MLB Postseason? Possibly NBC as it wouldn't bother their primetime to much.

Also one weekend before college football on CBS, CBS had a MLB Show about the Postseason on. I was surprised, it had the guys who do the MLB for TBS. I doubt CBS would want the MLB Postseason.

Fixed that for you. We know FOX and DirecTV have a close relationship going back to the days when News Corp. owned the satellite company, but most people want to watch the game, not be told to switch to DirecTV.

MLB post-season could go to ESPN/ABC, but that would jack cable rates up again like their new deal for Monday Night Football will end up doing. Would Comcast want to pony up the money for MLB on NBC? I say MLB on CW! :D

I don't think baseball should not be on CBS after what they have done for The MLB from 1990-94. They had to let Brett Musburger go, but Musburger-a true TV legend-is very happy right now doing college football on ESPN/ABC. Also CBS only carried 6 games per season, while it spended over a Billion dollars-With a B-just for this deal alone. Somehow, it was a fishy deal. Lucky for CBS, it has built its sports empire around NFL Football, & College Hoops. I think NBC/Versus would be a good choice because it really have a strong history with MLB, and I think Tim McCarver should just retire from the game, and live a real good life after work.

ESPN won't get in to baseball postseason games any time soon for one reason, and one reason only: the NFL an d college football top post season baseball. They air baseball in the summer because they're a sports network and there's nothing else out there to broadcast. When the fall sports season rolls around, they can make more money off the NFL and spreading college football games over several nights and networks.

Fox isn't perfect when it comes to baseball, but I'm wondering why f/x isn't used a bit more than it already is when it comes to sports on Fox.

No. It's the post season. Fox needs to keep baseball. They do a great job with it.

Again.....the Earth will not stand still if X Factor is bumped for a night.....

Because one person's tastes aren't the be-all and end-all, perhaps?
