Bauerle spouts another "I'm being watched" theory...

I can't wait til that paper goes out of business.

WBEN's more likely to go out of business.

Yet another reason why I DON'T listen to WBEN. Imagine: The station that used to house Clint Buehlmann, Jack Parr, Jeff Kaye, Jack Mindy, Bill Lacy, Kevin Keenan, Stan Barron and Van Miller(among MANY others)has become the home of, in the words of Tom Leykis, "right-wing wackos".

Bauerle is a demented little man.
WBENs decision to give him a co-host will crush his ego.
The bizarre conspiracy surveillance nonsense probably worries
Entercom and they are lining up his replacement...

If that paper goes out of business, WBEN is going to need to hire more newspeople.

And, hopefully, people with EXPERIENCE-rather than newbies fresh out of college.

Look at who WBFO has on their staff. EVERY ONE of them has worked in Buffalo radio for years-the vast majority of them either with WBEN or WGR(when it was a news/talk outlet). Except for maybe Debo and Puckett, the same cannot be said about WBEN.

Entercom isn't going to invest much of anything into WBEN.
It failed on the FM signal and now they'll just stay the course--
The Right Wing Crazy Train course.

They won't hire seasoned news reporters or attract younger listeners.
It's far too late anyway. AM Radio has no growth potential.
WBFO has far better content and the much better chance of survival...

Maybe they're thinking about dropping Rush. Bauerle would love to do three hours from noon-3, leaving Bellavia with the longer shift in PM drive. It would feed his ego to be able to proclaim that he was the guy that replaced Rush. Rush certainly isn't the draw he once was.

Maybe they're thinking about dropping Rush.

This was mentioned in a previous thread. Entercom replaced Coast To Coast with their own show. So replacing outside syndication with a local show makes them more money. As I've always said, syndication may save you talent expense, but it costs you potential revenue. If you're a top rated station like WBEN, and your ratings and revenue aren't dependent on syndication, then at some point it can hold you back from growth. From what've read here, WBEN is having trouble selling spots in Rush. That could be the kiss of death, regardless of the ratings.

Having a stronghold on the market's three dominant AM signals, it's likely Entercom is dictating terms TO Premier. Where else is Rush going in this market? Some rim shot AM that can't be heard beyond the shadow of its little stick? Hardly. Rush is waning, but he still has marquee value to the WBEN's P1 listeners. After a story like the one published in The News, you have to wonder if Entercom might be just a little nervous about Bauerle.

Those of us who live here know that you take Pergament with a large grain of salt. His relationship with Buffalo broadcasters is tainted by his role as a shill for the Buffalo News. It is generally antagonistic, unless somebody is trying to send a message.

I should add that The Literal Media, a talk show that airs Monday mornings on WBNY-FM, touched on this issue on yesterday's show. They didn't think much of Bauerle's claims; one of the hosts asked why would the people he alleges did this have gone to all the trouble and effort to surveil him.

If the plan isn't to have Bauerle replace Rush, expect Tom to start pulling the plug earlier and leaving Bellavia on his own for the last hour. After all, Beach only does three hours - why should he have to do four? That would also feed his ego.
