Hello, everyone!
As many of you know, I recently decided to step away from the nearly fulltime job of working on the Bay Area Radio Museum & Hall of Fame, largely due to time issues -- the project was taking up nearly all my spare time, seven days a week -- and because it was becoming a real drain on my personal finances.
In five years of working on the museum project, I received a lot of encouragement, but only a limited amount of volunteer and financial support.
In the wake of my announcement and the shutting down of the BARM/BARHOF website, a bunch of my great friends -- including Steve Kushman and Mike Adams at the California Historical Radio Society, Ben Fong-Torres, and Darryl Compton and Peter Cleaveland at Broadcast Legends, among others -- let me know that this project is vital and important, and that it was worth keeping alive.
We've received donations from quite a few people, which was tremendous, but I also received a call from Steve Kushman saying that CHRS was ready, willing and able to adopt the museum and make it a major component of their organization. Honestly, I couldn't think of a better fit than having BARM and BARHOF as part of CHRS and the KRE restoration project.
With the radio museum under CHRS's wing, we now have a skilled, dedicated and passionate group of volunteers to help to digitize the extensive BARM archives, as well as a place to house the Hall of Fame and a gallery to exhibit the wonderful items we've collected over the years.
The BayAreaRadio.org website is still bumping along, but I will continue working on it as much as possible. If you are interested in working on this project, please join CHRS at http://californiahistoricalradio.com or by calling 415-821-9800 and let Steve know you want to help out.
My thanks to all of you that have expressed your support and concern over the past few months -- I truly appreciate it!
