Bayou 106.7

A few stations such as KQKI (mainstream country with swamp pop/zydeco about once an hour), WTGE,KCIL (both have early morning weekend shows with cajun or swamp pop but are mainly country format all other times) and KYPY (who has a swamp pop show for noon but is mainly a classic country station) are actually trying this hybrid format here.

But the station is calling it's format Louisiana music (usually swamp pop, cajun, zydeco) and country music (announced a country classic listening from Conway twitty)

Found a classic country on the radio on 1050 playing classic country out of Acadiana today..Came in pretty good in BR..

What a disappointment !!! Classic country replaced by a KBON copycat. All my friends who were loyal listeners of 106.7 are looking for other stations.

KBON charges $75/year for their streaming audio. The Bayou 106.7 with its free stream provides an alternative for folks like myself who do not live in the stations' broadcast area to hear the local LA music. And they still play a considerable amount of classic country.

Im suprised they flipped Legends, they had good ratings for a class A peashooter signal. KSLO AM 1230 plays classic country, they have pretty good audio processing for AM. They are also heard on 105.3 FM in the norther areas of Acadiana, and on DTV subchannel 50.105.

If they are a copycat of KBON, they are doing a much better job at it, 106.7 sounds more professional and polished, the DJ's sound more prepared when they talk, and it's good to hear a traffic update on Highway 13 in Crowley and Interstate 10 in Scott and Rayne every now and then. Kudos to 106.7.

I was visiting this weekend and was glued to the new 106.7. I really like it.

@ smash: That was my hometown station KVPI-1050 in Ville Platte with a whopping 250 watts of daytime power.
