BBC LDN 94.9

I live in the states so I am not familliar with London's 94.9 but when I was visiting my fiance in London last winter, 94.9 sounded to me like a 50/50 mix of news/talk and call in chats. I found a site that just might help you, it not only discribes 94.9 but it lists and discribes all of London's other radio stations, it is actually a very useful site especially if you are new to London or traveling there. The site is below, I hope I could help.

All meant to tied in together with the 'BBC LDN' news program that airs on BBC ONE. There's the matching website at bbc.co.uk/ldn

But it dropped 'LDN' to go to the full word version of London. BBC ONE idents were branded as 'BBC ONE LDN' but now read 'BBC ONE LONDON'. This new service came into affect after the London & South East Region's were split apart in 2000, if I recall correctly.

EDIT: They do play music as well. There is a list of recently added songs to their playlist.

At one point 94.9 was BBC "GLR" Greater London Radio, and played a very nice variety of Adult Alternative music before going to a more chat/speech oriented format. I'm still looking for airchecks of the music programs.

Hiya, E-Dawg,

BBC London 94.9 streams 24-7 on-line via Real Player; whether you're broadband or dial-up, the reception is steady and reliable.

If you will go to

www.bbc.co.uk

and put in "London," you'll get a full programme schedule and link to streaming audio for 94.9.

If you hear a topic you like and would like to get on the air with them, dial
their number which they will give and is on the website, including the 01144 UK country code out front and they'll make arrangements to phone you back (at their cost) and put you on the air.

Look out! You could just get very badly hooked on them and give up on your local radio chat shows.

Rock On!

Rich.
