BBC Tuesday 9 AM

According to the Sirius forum, Radio 1 starts Tuesday at 9 AM. The time delay means next Friday, I can drive home and listen to Tong IN MY CAR. Technology rocks.

Wow! a positive message from you. Who knew you had it in ya ;)

PS, that does indeed rock, and hopefully after listening to Tongy, Jules, Dave Pearce, and the Essential Mix you'll be a bit more upbeat about Dance music.

Well Im glad all of us Sirius Subscribers can agree that BBC coming is a great thing. How many of you guys are going to set your clocks, so you dont miss the launch, when Sirius Turns on the BBC switch tuesday morning

Yes, Dance Anthems. Until they had playback, I'd faithfully stay home to listen to Mr Pearce. Same for the UK 40, Essential Selection and Jules.

I'm happy all around really. It's going to be SO wierd to drive to work and listen to Moyles. I've had Sirius for about 2 weeks now, and I've started to drive to work sometimes to just listen to the stuff. I even go sit in the car and listen cause my house kit hasn't arrived yet. I'm even going to do something I haven't did for years....but a STEREO system. Until now, I've used the computer surround sound for music.

Cruising home fridays to Tong. Can you ask for more?

Not trying to sound negative, but I hope your cruise home is going to be late at night. Word is that Sirius plans to time delay the BBC broadcast so that the programming day sounds the same in most of the US as it does over in the UK.

Essential Selection starts at 6 PM UK time, and will start here at the same time.

Im just excited because I should have sworn reading somewhere that this BBC addition was going to take place in October. I love hearing callers talking about DJ ____ ripped up the club last night. Goes awesome with the music. Well, at least we can all agree on something... BBC1 kicks ass :)

Another key UK vs. US radio difference - dance music it isn't buried at 2am.

Re: Here is the link

From Sirius:

"Playing an irresistible mix of today's best pop, rock, R&B and hip-hop."

Notice how when trying to make it appeal to the American audience, they omit the word "dance."

Yeah, and it sucks when they have to do that. But most people Seriously dont know what DANCE means....Its just techno to them, and probably unappealing. So they dont mention Dance, even though its about 25% of the programing.

Ill give you that one Justin, I said 75% wasnt dance, but 80% is pretty close. Still more dance than an American Top 40.

This is true, All of the dance records in rotation right now, with the exception of the new Martin Solveig, are really strong in my opinion.

I'd love to hear 20% dance on CHR radio here in the states. That's what, maybe 3 dance songs an hour? Pretty significant increase from zero (excluding gold cuts and however many spins DHT gets in a day). It might send pop/urban culture into cardiac arrest here.
