The stuff from the first "mini-auction" and from Phase-1 of this one, were mostly older stuff, that was already phased out. Lot's of old mikes, reel-to-reel, and other analog items.
The current auction (which I think is ending right now) had the newest stuff, including lots of digital gear and stereo mixing.
I never knew how big an operation it was, though, until I saw photos from one of their engineers who was "decommissioning" Bush House. There looks like about 70 or more studios, with control rooms for most of them. It was a huge operation in it's heyday, and continues to be a big operation in the new Broadcast Center, although their target areas have changed drastically.
As a kid, I always thought BBCWS was a few dozen on-air reporters and anchors, a handful of engineers, and a half-dozen studios.
Silly me ;D .
