BCN Alum on air special

Hearing a promo on 'BCN talking about 'old friends'. Sounds like the players from 'BCN's glory days are returning to reminisce, should be gratifying to hear. The promo mentions Charles, Jerry Goodwyn, Shred, Greg Hawkes, Oedipus. Interesting that the list on the promo excludes a legendary afternoon drive announcer. Also would be interesting if Matty stopped in.

And Nik Carter and others.

Hopefully they will release the whole thing as MP3s.

Some of the math doesn't add up for me. Starting Saturday they will have 4 days of classic WBCN with all the names above. That is through Tuesday. WBZ-FM starts Thursday, but T&R aren't back until Friday. What is going on Wednesday and Thursday morning at WBCN and 98.5?

WBZ-FM Sports Hub is to debut on Thu the 13th, same day as first Pats pre-season game. Mix 98.5 is due to move to
104.1 on Wed. so I would think 98.5 and 104.1 simulcast Mix on Wednesday. Not sure when the actual debut of
WBZ-FM is, as in time of day, but maybe it would start at noon on Thu.?

from mix985.com:
>>MIX IS MOVING UP…TO 104.1!
WHEN: AUGUST 12
WHERE: 104.1 FM

Opie and Anthony Slammed CBS on XM this morning. No phone call or invite to the boys to join in. They mentioned being grouped with Mark " lick me" Parenteau and also mentioned Matty but could justify that since he works for the competition

this topic got mentioned in the Boston Globe today. They pointed out: Parenteau, Opi & Anthony, Matty, and Peter Wolf as glaring omissions from BCN's look back.

Every year for awhile they'd have Peter Wolf as guest DJ in March, around the date they went undergroud rock.
That stopped. It was usually a big party on a Saturday night.

by the way, my station WMWM used to have an album by someone-- I think the last name began with W,
Werner or something?--and this promo copy album (which we got rid of a couple yrs ago) had something
called "The Good Ship 104" on it. It was a bunch of excerpts from WBCN programming...someone on the
phone says something crazy then we hear Charles, "ah lookit, hello...hello...hello?" And a song at the
end: "Laquidara in the morning, _____ without warning...on the good ship 104!"

It was some kind of promo thing. Anyone remember it>?

Link to the Globe bit about WBCN. They're not charging you to look at their site...yet.

Chuck not thinking of taking part...?

Parenteau was a huge part of what BCN was during the 70's and 80's. Wolf and his great Saturday night house partys. Matty Segal and advice for the lovelorn, Opi and Anthony are too new for me.

My $.02 for whatever it is worth. Mark Parenteau despite his personal life was great on the air. He was a huge part of the station in the day. He should be part of it either live, on the phone or through the magic of audio tape. He did the crime but he also did the time.

How about early 'BCNers like "Mississippi" Harold Wilson and Tommy Hadges? Of all the names mentioned in this thread, I think Charles is the only link to those days.

harold Wilson was on yesterday afternoon with a bunch of other guys from the early days, including the guy who started it, Ray something.

Tommy Hadges got mentioned by Maxanne, who was on.

I believe the Howard Stern interview aired on Saturday at 3pm with Adam 12, although they may replay it. They played the same Bill Murray interview with Ken Shelton twice so anything is possible.

The Howard Stern interview that aired Saturday was recycled from last year's 40th birthday celebration.
