Bear on a Bicycle

I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday and she told me that she swears she saw "the Bear" from KHAK riding a bicycle downtown in Cedar Rapids at 7:30 in the morning. I know there have been rumblings on this board here for a while, but does anyone know why he is off the air and would be cruising the streets on a bike DURING his show (which she says is STILL called Bear and Brain Show)? Someone had mentioned "legal" troubles. Is it a contract dispute?? Is he on strike??

I pride myself on knowing A LOT in radio...but this one has even the great and almighty "Stickman" puzzled. (Thanks, by the way, to Will for likening me to the "Great and Powerful Oz").

Theories. A) He is participating in his own "Biggest Loser" competition and was pedaling off the pounds. B) He's riding for the same reason everyone else rides bikes downtown CR.....glug, glug, glug....blow...."no keys for you big guy". Purely hypothetical, of course.
 
Funny post FCC. Last night I heard something about a contest to try to "find the bear". I thought maybe KHAK was doing this as a ratings ploy. Then I discovered it is The Fox doing the promotion. Apparently they are hiding a bear all over and if you find him you win. My questions are: If you were running a station would you point out and bring to the listener's attention your competition like this??? (the old saying "there is no such thing as bad publicity" comes to mind) Also, if he is involved in legal troubles as some have pointed out...isn't this kicking a guy when he is down??

Looking back at this post, it's almost like I have grown a conscience. I need to fix that.
