BEAR RUMORS?????

A couple of people told me yesterday they heard the Bear had been sold....I know nothing and I hope they don't change format if it is true and I hope it doesn't affect people's jobs...The Bear has proven Classic Country works despite the snickers and doubting of some..Some of us would much rather hear Haggard,Jones and Buck and not Rascal Flatts and Taylor Swift 27 times a day..

I'd love it if my station would go Classic...we're competing with 2 Lexington Country stations, and the thing that sets us apart from them is the fact that we play some classics, 2-3 per hour, and one of our most popular shows is our Friday night Classic Request Live. We're pulling around a 1.8 in Lex, and we could probably top 3 if we went to all Classics, in my humble opinion.

I was told that the same thing was said on the station on April 1st... it had been sold and would change formats.

Had to be April Fools!

The Bear is the second highest rated country station in the market which is pretty darn good..I still say if thet would go live in pm drive and 7-12 midnight they would do even better but I know its about the dollars

I heard Hammer taking calls and then saying April Fools so I think the Bear will be around for a while.

WRNS has better ratings. Where are you getting your numbers?

I'm glad there's a station like The Bear here, though there are virtually no DJs.

I watched the awards show last night after taping it and I was actually pleasantly surprised at how much good music I heard. Though I had never heard of Heidi Newfeld and she's got a lot of nerve singing about Johnny and June when her music sounds like that. And on the subject of comparing Jamey Johnson to Waylon Jennings: my station does play a couple of Waylon songs that sound like "In Color", but I only put up with them because they're Waylon.

WRNS is the number one country station but I believe the Bear has better numbers than Thunder so i think that would make the Bear second among country stations.....Those are the only three in this market..right..???

FYI- Heidi Newfield is the former lead female singer of Trick Pony. I'm glad to see her doing so well as a solo act! BTW, "Johnny and June' was her first single as a solo singer and it went top 5. It's a tribute to Cash.

Oh, I liked "Pour Me".

Yeah, well, I only listen to tribute songs that are worthy of the artists they represent. I hear a lot of garbage with lyrics celebrating the great country stars. That's a shame.
