Beasly's Fort Myers ESPN translators

Anyone noticed how weak ESPN AM770's fm translators are downtown Fort Myers? 98.1 and 96.5's signals drop out or fade into hiss about a mile before the river when heading North. Noticed it everywhere not just by the court house. They are both gone on the North side and on the bridge.

I thought 96.5 was supposed to be near there and 98.1 was just South of Page Field. How much power do they run?

Wasn't 96.5 FM licensed to Scum...err, Suncoast Estates? Aren't these FM translators formerly Reach FM repeaters?

Of the two, 96.5 should be there coverage area-wise, but with it running only 26 watts at 300 feet...Not too much of an assurance it would be. Now, 98.1 is 200 watts at over 400 feet, but more south near the Beach. It's not reaching the North side that well most likely.

Here in Pembroke Pines in Broward County, I can hear 98.1 with hiss galore, *if* I orient the antenna toward Ft Myers. That's 100 air miles.

Forget all the other translators.

98.1 is on the Beasley tower in Estero, I believe. Their 101.5 in Bonita gets out really well because it is up pretty high on its tower. Their 96.5 will be at 250 watts soon.

I live in the North Cape and can pick up 98.1 better than 96.5. Also, 96.5 has a harsh sound. Most of the time I listen to 98.1 or go back to 770 AM.
