Beck back on the big one?

I heard from another board that Beck is coming on Nov. third, and Bob France will move to evenings. Can anyone confirm this?

i guess bob will have to move disco friday to wednesday to adjust for the cavs/indians/browns games. check out ohiomediawatch.com for more details--lol

Yep. It's all true.

Supposedly, WEOL/930 was tipped off about this at the same time that WHK/1420 dumped Laura Ingraham from their lineup. Back in mid September. The way they are putting it, "WTAM hopes to right their wrong by re-signing Glenn Beck, effective Monday, November 3rd." (You remember... Jerry Springer... the WORST programming move Kevin Methany ever made...)

That explains why WEOL picked up Laura in tape delay from 6p-8p. The plan is to scoot her up to mid-mornings in place of Beck the day after the election, November 5. Curiously, it's after a two-day overlap with Beck on both WEOL and WTAM. THEN, you can understand why WEOL PD/OM Craig Adams told a trade magazine, "Feels like Christmas came early this year. What a gift to get Laura Ingraham in the Fall book. I couldn't be more pleased."

Likewise, Bob Frantz will take over Kevin Keane's old evening slot on WTAM, but it will NOT be called Sportsline... effectively ending a weeknight program that has aired on AM/1100 in one form or another, every weeknight, for 36 years.

Of course it's still unofficial. But WEOL did not mention Glenn among the station's offerings in a PR announcement about the station's 60th Anniversary yesterday and set up a graphic on their website's front page that says "11.05.08. Change is coming. Believe it." And that adds to the teasers WTAM has aired this past week which are kind of a giveaway... :)

The only issue is, Paul Harvey's midday broadcast cannot air at 11:45AM from that point on... on Laura's show clock, there is NO fixed break during that third hour. If that didn't change, that newscast would have to move for the second time in five months. Nevermind that it was a fixed positioner on WEOL at 12:30PM from early 1968 until June 2008.

It is official...Beck was on with Bob Frantz this morning, who also announced his move to 7-midnight starting 11/4 (no idea why he's off the 3rd).

And WHLO/640 Akron will move Matt Patrick into the Beck time slot on 11/3 as well, returning Hannity to a full clearance in afternoon drive, and Mark Levin up to 6 PM...

wonder who kevin will put on 640 between 8 and 11, between levin and rusty? laura ingraham? savage? lou dobbs? dr. laura? dave ramsey? rollye? new local talent?

I wouldn't mind Dave Ramsey on at that time, as most know I feel Salem gave him a raw deal. But then would he have clearance with being on live on WCER? BTW thanks John. It makes my drive more enjoyable when I get off work early.

I doubt that WHLO would bring back Savage, just months after dumping him (even with a 18-hour tape delay on WCER), plus Rollye's show is no longer syndicated terrestrially.

Our fault on this one, since we never got a Round Tuit(tm) - John hasn't been with WCER for some time now. He took the WHLO news director job after Michael Kelly left a few months ago.

Of course, we were never told by either the station or by John, when it happened...and now, it's kinda late for an item about it.

I have no idea who's OM at WCER these days.

Next time I'm south of the turnpike during the top of the hour news at 2:00, I will have to listen to whomever is reading the local news, since John used to do that, and assume that's the new OM of WCER.

Either that or this thread will smoke him, or her out ;D

Last I knew, no one had picked up the local news duties at WCER and it was all CNN at the top of the hour. The OM, albeit part time since he also pastors a church in Alliance is Jeff Caldwell. He was also morning man at the station back in 2002.

Thanks OA for the mention and sorry for not passing along the change.

Now John, be a friend and see if you can get Dave and his much needed advice on 640. I'm sure in these uncertain economic times, he's a very hot commodity.

I did manage to put a note in a recent update that mentioned WCER. :)

And no one else at Freedom Avenue told me, either...so I had to do it the old fashioned way...listening to the radio!

:D

Your new friend may just be WHLO PD Greg Ausham...

do you really want to listen to clark whine about how to recycle ketchup from used mickydee catsup packs? he did that a few years ago when 640 had him on between dr laura and rush(2001 the great frquency swap era).

I saw a huge cover ad for Dave Ramsey on a recent edition of R&R. He's really trying to make hay of the "common sense financial advice in troubled times" thing. It'll be interesting to see if he breaks through in this financial mess we're in.

As far as the topic goes, I notice WTAM has changed the PDF schedules on its website:

http://www.wtam.com/pages/programming/

The "regular" M-F schedule lists Bob Frantz 7-11 PM with his normal show. The Cavaliers M-F schedule lists him with his normal show from (approx.) 10:30-midnight, after an hour of the Cavs post-game call-in show with Mike Snyder.

And the Indians M-F schedule actually lists Frantz as the host of Extra Innings until midnight, with no mention of his non-sports talk show (!!).

I'm not sure what that means, or if that plan will change between now and April.

I'm sure Dave's area wide over the air presence will still be nonexistant after everything is said and done. CC is probably banking on an Obama victory and both Rush and Beck will be putting the new administration under the microscope, much like the way Rush did while Clinton was in office. Everybody will complain about the two, but they will be listening.

I will be listening to Ramsey on my way home from work, but it will be via my mp3 player. I find political talk neither entertaining or enlightening, but hey that's me.
