Beck's been on XM for some time already...

Radio-info's headlines and T Taylor's column have talked of XM/S getting Glenn Beck. Uh, he's been on there for some time already. I have had XM since March of 07 and he's been on the whole time, in fact I think one channel carries him at 9 am and another reruns it at noon. Old news...? It is true though as Taylor notes that Rush is not on satradio.

Taylor: "So in addition to those 400+ terrestrial affiliates, his daily show will clear 9am-noon (Eastern time) on the right-leaning Sirius XM “Patriot” channel. That’s Sirius 144 and XM 166. "

I've had XM since Christmas '02 and Beck's been on the entire time, he's just been on their "Talk Radio" Channel 165 for a time (He was on America Right, which is XM's right wing talk channel with a slightly different line up than Patriot, until 2006)

So Sirius is picking him up and putting him on Patriot, XM is moving him from 165 to 166

Sirius XM doesn't like to acknowledge that channel 165 exists because it's controlled by Clear Channel. They never mention it in blanket promos for their talk channels and never include it in highlights. As far as they're concerned, Beck's never been on satellite radio until now. Although that IS actually the case for Sirius. In fact nothing produced by Clear Channel has been a part of Sirius until this point.

Is talk radio channel 165 staying? Will CC replace Beck on 165 with something else, or will he be on 2 XM channels right next to each other? Interesting how XM is replacing America Right with Sirius Patriot. They're somewhat the same by both having Hannity and the Great One.

Channels 158, 165, 171, and 173 (when it was on the air) are all controlled by Clear Channel actually. I never listen to any of the right or left wing as all they do is regurgitate what the other person before them said. I like my conspiracy and removal of government shows.

171 is a Sirius XM channel. 173 is still on the air, but it's this now - http://www.bollywoodandbeyond.fm - and it is still CC.

I don't like they are moving Laura Ingraham and Bill Bennett's shows off 166 to the website. I can't listen to a website in the truck! Seems redundant to run the same show on adjacent channels unless Clear Channel is going to change the line up of 165.

XM/Sirius keeps making it easier and easier for me to eventually decide to dump them. They have totally screwed up the playlists after the merger, dropping American Top 40 and Rick Dee's Weekly Top 40 and now this?

Dropping AT40 the 80's was a Siri/XM choice, Dees signed a new contract that made him exclusive to AM/FM radio. 171 has always been an XM channel, it's 161 that was a simulcast of WSIX and is now classic rock formatted Rock@Random run by CC

You're correct it was 161 not 171. I was off by 10. Not bad for a morning post. That does seem stupid to move those two programs to web only. I wonder what they will put on in their place on 166? More replays of something? This is usually the first sign of bailing out. Dropping live shows and replaying shows you already carry live at a different time or on a different channel. I have no problem at all with a Right Wing channel and a Left Wing channel. That way both sides can listen to their choice.

I can't believe they don't even have a 24-7 live channel for truckers. Truck drivers should be Sirius-XM's main target as people at home are going more and more to WiFi Radio (I know I have). That's just ridiculous. I want a conspiracy channel. They could carry The Power Hour and Alex Jones both live on there along with Rollye James Show. I wish they would carry BBC Radio 2 on Sirius-XM. That's one I listen to a lot online. Great programming on there.

I only keep Sirius-XM for MLB and NFL Coverage. They really have cheapened up XM 175 Home Plate though. First they started carrying a game live on there when they have 14 channels set aside for those. Next we switch to carrying an audio feed of MLB TV from 6pm-1am EDT excepting the game they carry on 175. Just stupid. A really cheap way to run a channel. Why do I want to hear audio of guys saying "now look here" or "see these statistics". Does me a lot of good driving down the road. ::)

I don't think 166 is going away, I think this is just a case of XM doing their own thing and it just looks weird to subs because CC is doing their own thing with their own channels.
