Yes there is talent in Rochester but it is cheaper to hire someone from a smaller market to come to work in Rochester, versus having a local established talent work at WBEE.

You could call it a big stepping stone thing moving up from a middle of the pack station in market #164 to a leading station in market #56. Unfortunately I'm sure there was at least one established local talent who would have killed such a position. So congrats to Jordan on their career path. Yesterday Utica, today Rochester, tomorrow...erm, um who knows these days...

Entercom is not in Utica/Rome. First, congrats to Entercom for hiring ANY mid-day live & local talent. Mid-day jocks are getting to be scarcer than hen's teeth, even in much larger markets than Rochester.
Sounds like they decided to go with an cheaper up-and-comer instead of a more expensive tried (or tired)-and-true. Not only that, but they appear to be skewing younger. According to CNYradio.com, Jesse Jordan did mid-days & promotions at Kiss-FM in Utica. She left when Roser asked her to move to morning drive - likely for the same money.
Guess she's just a country girl at heart, huh? Good Luck to Ms. Jordan.

My point is that it doesn't matter how qualified you are. If you don't apply for the gig, you won't be considered.
As a person who started out in the Utica/Rome/Mohawk Valley market, I think that moving up to Rochester is a natural step. The woman has paid her dues in a smaller market and if she has the talent it is time to move up. Congrats Ms. Jordan. I hope you are happy & successful at the BEE.

Perhaps they were looking for something fresh to bring to the Rochester menu. She brings lot's of enthusiasm (from what I know of her) to the situation.
Maybe they were looking for somebody who looked forward to going to work, and was thrilled to get a raise to $30K.
