Been picking up some weird signals on AM-please help me with a few stations

Title says all.
Need help on:
610 UNID spanish
580 unID spanish station
520 weak cw with 5 beeps every 5 seconds
1020 Sports talk
830 something that sounds like WCCO, but with ABC news on the top of the hour, and not CBS News
Again, who are these?

First of all, where are you located? There's a sports-talk station in Moses Lake WA on 1020, KWIQ, but if you're not in the Pacific NW, maybe KDKA?

Crainbebo, if you're in the WA state and it isn't daytime when you heard those stations then the 580 and 610 are probably in Oregon. I think the 610 is in Medford, OR near the Ca border.

I am from Bothell, WA. I stil need help on the CW beeps on 520 and the ABC news on 830. I don't think 830 is WCCO

Check this:

520 BF Seattle (Boeing Field) WA USA CN87tp 400 AB 1 1988-10-01

would be sending "BF" in morse. Sounds like dah-dit-dit-dit dit-dit-dah-dit

520 is an FAA operated frequency in seattle. For their back-up ASOS on the ground. it is only used in an emergency when all else fails, and also NOAA has access to it also for the very same reason.

Crane--

It's possible you might also be hearing someone's Navtex tower bleeding over onto 520 as well. (Navtex is an AMTOR-based radioteletype tystem that broadcasts on 490 and 518 but depending on your radio's bandwidth and the time, it often can bleed over a few kHz.....you can read more read more about Nevtex here and even download a rather neat little Navtex decoder programme you can use on your computer here. [The decoder programmes only run on Windows as I am aware, but if you are on Linux you might also be able to get them to run in Wine.....but I haven't tried doing that yet so *please* don't take my word for it.)

But based on your description I'll bet you're hearing "BW" instead like others have stated (I've caught that one before down here, via nighttime skip).....Navtex actually sounds kinda' like what you'd hear if you were listening to the audio output of a TDD/TTY machine, not Morse Code.......but still, try it out, it's rather interesting.......

I get alot of that here.. at 950am and at 800am really close to local stations.. boy is it frustrating whan there is a good topic on those competing stations
