Before You Throw Donut Boy A Party...

...Look back a year and compare WKRL's performance in Summer 04 vs. Summer 05.
(Summer books usually been their highest each year, as they bask in the glow of their KRockathon concert.)

18-34 Adults...WKRL down 12 percent from Summer 04 to Summer 05

25-54 Adults...WKRL down 19 percent from Summer 04 to Summer 05.

Anyone who understands radio gets why WAQX would lose shares from Summer 04 to Summer 05. Brand new morning show brought in to replace Stern; on just 4 months at the start of the Summer 05 book.

Now we get why Donut Boy wants us to focus on WAQX losing some shares from Spring 05 to Summer 05. It deflects attention from the fact that even without Howard Stern on the competition, Donut Boy has done nothing to grow WKRL's shares from one year to the next.

Time to wax the Jag for Winter.

Russ ... very sad.

Let's see ... in your own words ...

Exhibit A:

"That's only the first full book with their new morning show. All you have to do is listen and you know which morning show will keep growing."

Exhibit B:

"the early adopters are already listening to 95X more than KRock. That is not awesome for donut boy on Walton St."

Exhibit C:

"Maybe the folks at Citadel have surprised a few self styled local radio experts by bringing in such a solid morning show to succeed Stern. Beaner and Ken are funny and entertaining. Once 95X rides out the next few months Beaner and Ken will be on their way to becoming a major factor in Syracuse radio."

C'mon Russ, fill everyone in on the comparison to what AQX lost. C'mon Buffalo Boy. Why would you bust out the 25-54 numbers, that's not even our target? Why don't you bust out the 18-49 numbers and show us how we compare with AQX? Just do ranker ... come on. Can't even use your real name on here because your afraid that the upper office cats will think less of you for slumming it by getting into a chatter fight with a PD. We all know that you're an upper management dude trying to spin it around so you don't look like the chicken (BLEEP) little pencil pushin idiot you are. Where is that astounding come back that YOU promised? No where. You suck and your about to fire Alexis. The whole industry knows it.

If you insist!

18-49...WKRL down 11 percent from Summer 04 to Summer 05.

I predicted that WAQX would be up in Summer...I was wrong.

Donut Boy is trying to sell some kind of big "victory party" for WKRL based on Summer 05 numbers that are lower than Summer 04 numbers. Time to give it a rest.

sad indeed.

Bone you idiot, ya got nuthin'!
He busted out the numbers, and to quote Ed Levine "The numbers dont lie".
You're best attempt to try to save face was to do a search and dig up OLD crap about X . Lame, at best, buck-o. Comparing yourself to a sinking ship, and still losing ratings is pitiful. The best you can come up with is "at least we're not 95x". You want to congratulate yourself for that ? Go ahead throw yourself a party. Pathetic.

The real story is in the numbers.

Since I am an impartial observer, I'll break it down

WAQX: 12+ Summer '04 (6.0) to Summer '05 (3.2), thats about a 50% drop.
WKRL: 12+ Summer '04 (4.3) to Summer '05 (3.9), that's about a 5% drop

WAQX: 18-34p Summer '04 (10.6) to Summer '05 (5.4), thats about a 52% drop compared with what Russ says is a 12% drop for K-Rock.

Don't Put That On Us

Aside from the rest of your screed, don't go puttin' that on Buffalo. It should be Rochester Boy.
