Beginning of the end for MAX-FM?

Today I decided to turn them on since I hadn't heard them in quite a while. About nine am, some show called "Dial and Deal" came on. I occassionally hosted a similar show a few years ago on a station in eastern Colorado, so I knew what was about to air. I was just stunned that it was airing on a music station in the middle of their heavily-hyped "no repeat work day"

Intellectually, I know what this is. It's another desperate attempt at some revenue. It may even be working because when I turned the station back on just before ten, the show was still on. They must have gotten calls and/or spots from SOMEWHERE. However, it's a short-term fix at best. About the only thing this station had going for it was hoping for office listening. Now I would imagine most of those folks have switched to Frequency, Rewind, GRR or one of the Dayton stations. The ratings are already in the toilet, and I can't imagine this doing much to correct it.

Much as I love the fact that they're trying some local programming, I don't know if this is the way I'd go on what is branded a music-intensive station.

Am I wrong about this?

Not wrong at all...but are there any offices within 10 miles of their transmitter sites?

WOXY has exercised their city-of-license change and moved to a tower in Warren County, so maybe there are some offices there. The signal is noticeably weaker in the Dayton area as a result.

Maybe they are realizing that 99.5 is better off going back to serving Brown and Clermont counties and Northern KY since they keep getting shot down every time they attempt to move it.

"Dial and Deal" was a staple on WAXZ and WAOL when Plessinger owned the stations, and carried over for the first year of First's reign. I'm not shocked they brought it back and if you pay attention to the commercials, the majority of the spots are for places in Brown County.

This leads me to believe that the main offices are still in Georgetown while still having another office in Tri-County.

For 99.5, yes - but not for 97.7. It's been like that since they bought the signals in 2004.

What cities are these offices in? The only towns within 10 miles of 99.5 appear to be Germantown, Minerva, Chatham, Gertrude, Cumminsville, Wolcott, Brooksville, Johnsville, Berlin, Willow, Powersville, Petra, Milford, Bratton, Hittville, Stonewall, Mt Olivet, Abigail, Bridgeville & Sardis--all Kentucky. Now I've never been to any of these charming places, but it begs the question of how many offices are there? And if they do, are they in the Cincinnati Metro? The nearest spot on I-275 to their tower is 33 miles. Can't speak for Cincy, but in Indy, the "in office" listening is pretty well confined to within several miles of I-465...suspect the same applies there (only with I-275 being the reference). In which case, Dial & Deal (ours over here is Dial A Deal) is probably gonna snag listeners...

I think you've got your wires crossed...the previous poster is referring to the station offices or studios, not office buildings.

I don't think my wires are crossed, but to clarify, here's the line of thought that went into my most recent post...

From DJJack1 "About the only thing this station had going for it was hoping for office listening"

From myself "but are there any offices within 10 miles of their transmitter sites?"

From RedGreen "For 99.5, yes - but not for 97.7."

From myself "What cities are these offices in?
