Last night I had just picked up a new pocket walkman from Radio Shack
the new model: Radio Shack 12-470 the Digital AM/FM/Weather/TV Pocket Radio
Man! This is the best made and mighty powerful radio ever yet to be made!
I was on my way home last night while riding on the Midway Orange Line,
I was listening to my new radio. The Midway Orange Line pulled up over at the Western Ave Station, and then I happen to stumbled onto FM 95.9
Man! I thought I was going crazy man! Here it was!
I happen to pick up the River WERV 95.9 all the way from
Aurora IL. in which this station does not serves or cover Chicago!
Unless they had recently boosted their TXing power?
Does any one knows what going on?
or is it just my new radio?

I have picked up the river many times in chicago on my car radio in my old neighborhood around archer and pulaski. I have also listened to it all the way to U.S. Cellular Field a few times. Sometimes it will be mixed in with the 95.9 out of Michigan City Indiana so it does depend on conditions in the atmosphere.

Did the River came in like real strong like gangbusters?
Or did you receive a weak signal?

I was getting the River coming in like gangbusters!
While going by the Western station on the Orange Line last night...

It depends, sometimes if there was a little bit of a tropo going on it would be strong but for the most part it would be fair at best.

Sounds like DX to me. Every once in awhile I pick it up here. Last time I even tried listening to 95.9 in Chicago was in the mid 90s when it was Oldies as "Pure Gold 96" The signal, next to nothing on a car radio.<P ID="signature">______________

I have the same radio - great set, but two complaints:

1) It chews up batteries, and deletes the presets every time you change them.
2) The receiver isn't selective enough - once I get close to downtown the FM band is almost useless. (Lots of bleedover from nearby stations... I get Lite FM through almost the whole middle of the dial.)
