Bell Buys CTV

So, if you want to own a tv station in the Toronto market...is CTV (& others) trying to say that you should also own a cable or sattlelite provider as well, in order to survive?

Rogers (cable) owns City tv. Global tv was sold to Jim Shaw, owner of Shaw Direct, and now CTV is in the hands of Bell! (owner of Bell tv).

Isn't that something?
 
In fact, Friday's transaction is BCE's second takeover of CTV in 10 years.

In early 2000, under former CEO Jean Monty, BCE acquired CTV in an all-cash transaction valued at $2.3 billion. That 2000 transaction was one of the early moves in which corporate Canada tried to cash in on a growing trend towards convergence of the Internet, telecom, newspapers and broadcasting.
 
So....Rogers = Citytv/OMNI, Bell = CTV/A Channel, Shaw = Global, Videotron (Qubecor Media) = TVA network.
Talk about synergy and media concentration.
