Bell Media spills the blood in Ottawa

16 lose their jobs, across Bell Media's operations in Ottawa.

I suppose the biggest name dropped is Michael Harris, from 580 CFRA. I'm not too huge on CFRA, but if there was a program I'd tune in to, it would be Michael's. Say what you will about talk show hosts, they are paid to bring up an issue or stir the pot. But for me, it is the quality of the callers, which sets the standard and Michael had the best. He had a terrible radio voice, but brought the most intelligent talk to CFRA.

Best of luck Michael and to the rest of the staff, who now have to make adjustments, in a small world.

That's not all. CBC reported they were also letting go of 34 employees at CJOH. Didn't sound like any on-air people though.

They let Michael and a few others go last week. I tuned in a week ago Thursday like I always did to his show, and there was no "sitting in for.." like they usually do. I knew something was up and called the station and they refused to say anything about it. Instead they seem to have re-hired Ron Corbett to take that slot. His was the only show I tuned in for. Now my afterno0ns are filled with 1310 news and CJAD. Nowhere near the same at all.
