hold on - dont place the carriage in front of the horse
or what ever that phrase is - I just thought of something::::

the terms, 3.38 billion, the companies, astral and bell, great...

*BUT*

did the CRTC aaaaaactually approve the sale ?
hence, they see the forest thru the trees,
(i must be a hot dog, im on a roll : ) >if they view
the bigger picture and say , umm, no sale (for) the
entire deal; no deal for select markets, then what ???

The CRTC does have to approve the sale, but I don't see a full rejection. That rarely happens.

For reference sake, I think one could perhaps look back to the Rogers/MacClean's deal, in hopes that the difference this time won't mean that CRTC Regs will change to accommodate this deal.

The CRTC had better not change things like the Common Ownership Policy to accomodate this deal, otherwise this truly does mean the birth of Canada's version of Clear Channel.....and we all know what a disaster that has turned into south of the border.

That's exactly the problem! If Bell has their way, Rogers will have theirs. Who will be left?

Canada, 2050:

Bell will own Tim Hortons, Loblaws, the Vancouver Canucks. They will have bought out NewCap, MBS Radio, and RAWLCO.

Rogers will own Canadian Tire, Shoppers Drug Mart, the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers, and any remaining Canadian-owned breweries. They will have bought out Shaw Media, Blackburn Radio, and Corus.

Both companies will have naming rights to various roads and highways across the country. In exchange for money contributed for construction and upgrades, we will have the Bell Trans-Canada Highway and Rogers 401.

Rogers is not for sale in Ed Roger's lifetime. (Ted's son)

Then again, isn't that what the Chum group said when Alan Waters passed away? lol

"CHUM group is not for sale..."
CHUM group was sold shortly after Mr. Waters' passing, so who knows?

By the time 2050 comes around, we could see CBC TV & Radio-Canada Television being bought out by Bell with the CBC & SRC Radio networks being run by Rogers.

Nope. CBC will sill be CBC something in 2050. There will be too much of a fight to "save CBC"...
