BELO sold to Gannett for $2.2 Billion

This will be Gannett's return to the Seattle market (they were first here when they purchased KHIT in 1986 and oversaw it's flip to KNUA)

There's that new studio and graphics package that KING 5 was looking for...

Another interesting aspect is the cross-ownership issues. In Portland, for example Gannett will likely spin off KGW to a side company and run the station through a JSA. So "technically" KING and KGW will have separate owners for the first time in the station's histories.

This is probably not good news ... First Fisher goes to Sinclair, then Belo, which ran a pretty tight ship, goes to Gannett. Ugh. Its going to get interesting around here.
