Ben Affleck Scandal Causes PBS To Delay "Roots" Documentary

It's not the scandal, it's the cover up. Henry Louis Gates, the Harvard professor whom a cop arrested for breaking into his own house six years ago, is producing "Finding Your Roots" for PBS. Actor Ben Affleck was hired to host. The show traces various celebrities' ancestors. But Ben was a little sensitive about his own slave holding ancestors, so they deleted any reference to that.

LATimes.com said:
...The PBS review made public on Wednesday afternoon found Gates, who hosts the program that examines the family trees of celebrities, inappropriately bowed to pressure from Affleck to make the actor's genealogical past less controversial.

Gates and his fellow producers "violated PBS standards by failing to shield the creative and editorial process from improper influence, and by failing to inform PBS or WNET [the PBS member station where the program originates] of Mr. Affleck's efforts to affect program content," a summary of the review provided to the media on Wednesday stated.

The network announced that it was delaying the return of the show's third season, which was already in production. Furthermore, PBS is postponing a decision altogether about a possible fourth season...

However, there has yet to be any "scandal" in public media or in the MSM about their avoidance of any reference to Obama's slave holding ancestors. Never let facts get in the way of political correctness.

I've seen this show, and I don't understand your point. Obama himself was not at any time a subject of this series, as Affleck. In fact, several other celebrities discovered, much to their personal shock and embarrassment, that their ancestors did bad things. They were willing to let those things air, while Affleck was not.
