Ben and Skin back on air...103.3

Ben and Skin have been hired to replace RJ Choppy and Wally Lynn evenings on 103.3 They will start Tuesday Night. The Pete Dits love affair with all things Ticket continues... If you don't know what you are doing (or anything about programming) Hire the other stations rejects and former weekenders.......

The second sentence of this article begins:

Ben and Skin, who have made their mark on the Dallas sports radio market over the past decade...

Hyperbole? Or Truth?

Skin is a much better than average Mavs analyst. Get them off the Mavs for long, and its tedious.

When they pinch hit for the Hardline, it sounded like geeky unfocused college radio hi-jinks that might be funny in Ponca City, Oklahoma.

These two are the radio equivilent of people spraying graffiti on the inside of a DART train:

* its not artistic

* it stinks

* it devalues the neighborhood, and

* you pray they don't get any of it on you

just my .02, your mileage may differ

Yes, Ticket leftovers and they'll still suck. They were a somewhat decent weekend program if you didn't want to hear about cars or mortages but they're a mile wide and an inch deep when it comes to coherent content. The Ticket didn't run to get them back after the 105.3 abortion even though were available so I think that says something......keep in mind 1310 did bring Dale "Wabbity Babbity" Hansen back recently for stints after his flings with the "others" in the market so it is something they will do.

Wally Lynn. Hate to hear that because I've liked him since his days at the KLIF before even he and Leon Simon were paired up. That said, I don't listen to ESPN and my radio day is pretty much done by the time his show was coming on anyway, so....

I really enjoy B&S and I am very happy that they landed a gig. Having said that, I don't see myself changing my radio repertoire to listen to them. I am just too much a creature of habit. I wish them the best.

Walter will still doing Cowboys related programming. Choppy will now be a stringer.

Damn, Wally has lost yet another radio gig?
I find it hard to believe he'd GOTTEN another radio gig.

Has he, or Fisher for that matter, ever gotten good ratings? Anywhere they've been?

I really like listening to Wally (while Fisher just sucks) but at some point don't you stop running out the guys who can't cut it (Wally, Fisher, Irvin, etc) and start giving a chance to up-and-comers...Like Ben and Skin?

So far they'e only "failed" at one station (The Fan) and that failure is probably as much PD related as talent related.

As I understand, at the Ticket they were pretty much allowed to be themselves and do their schtick.....................and they were never more than a Saturday/fill-in duo. They never were a part of the "A" team at 1310 and that's why they left.

Left to themselves its more (vomit inducing) "KB the Cowboy homer" and constant moaning about how indy rock doesn't get its due and tales from the sales office, etc, etc.........blabbery blah.

Nothing personal but they generally had just enough to talk about to fill one show a week when they were turned loose. Hey, if they make a go of it at KESN then good on them but I just don't see it happening.

This is the time slot they should have been in all along. Taking a team that does 3 hours one-day a week and then asking them to hold down afternoon drive in a top-5 market is too much too fast.

Middays are a more attainable goal.
