Ben Bennett out at WBMQ

DJTHOMAST2001 said:
As far as the Cumulus issue, things will probably never change. Cumulus has several formats they can use on WZAT 102.1. Top 40 would work only if they would play a CHR format. They have been playing a CHR format during the day and after midnight more of a Hot AC format. Whats up with that??? As far as for AM and WBMQ, the signal sucks which is also a big win for WTKS. Clearly Clear Channel has alot of advantages AM and FM.

It's amazing that WBMQ doesn't at least simulcast on the FM dial.

Bennett's demise does not surprise me. I think he has loads of talk show talent...but his act is very annoying. This Icon, I'm great and if you don't think like me your are insignificant is truly annoying. Its also untrue. If he was such an Icon of broadcasting then why did they cut his radio show from four hours to two? And if he is such an Icon then why did they take his radio show off TV? And if he is such an Icon then why was he working in Savannah and not some major market?

Mr. Bennett...kill the Icon act....talk about whatever you want to talk about with passion and creativity and you will be just fine. Also, it would be nice to hear a talk show host show who is not biased. Why can't talk show hosts question both sides and not spin favorably one way?

Prediction...somebody out there in the talk show world is going to figure out how to do an entertaining show that is neither pro right or left. Its a niche that is certainly not being filled. We don't need another Hannity or Limbaugh clone.

There is someone out there who questions both sides. His name is Neal Boortz. He's to the ultra right on fiscal issues and the War on Terror, but he's to the left on Social Issues. He's huge up in Georgia and down here in Florida. He has homes in Atlanta and in the Naples area.

His National Audience is getting bigger and bigger. Friday he added an affiliate in Dallas and today Vegas. According to an earlier post he used to be on WBMQ and they gave him up for Bennett.

Who cares? Ben is trying to establish himself for bigger things, IMO.

But the big joke is WBMQ itself! Absolutely the world's worst technical programming!! Do they even have an on-air monitor in that place?? ROFL!!!!

'Cane....if you don't know what IMO and ROFL means then you must be older than me....and I'm ancient!! ROFL!

But for those who have ever worked at a radio or TV station, you will know what a technical joke WBMQ is. Even back in the "old days" we never had multiple pots open or dead air like WBMQ does.

So where did Ben go? As if I really care...... :-\

You're right. I got in a ton of trouble when a Chick wrote me LOL to a romantic email I sent her. I thought she meant Lots of Love not Laughing out Loud!

WBMQ and WJLG are both running very antiquated software...The old DCS program on MSDOS (thats right, they haven't even made it to Windows 3.1)...and no the station isn't monitored because the on air monitor is mostly static! Cumulus should step up and make some improvements, but I wouldn't count on it.

[/quote] Having lived in Savannah most of my life, I can tell you that WBMQ does have absolutely the worst technical programming since 1985 when it had its oldies format. From what I'm reading on these posts, it's beginning to rate right up there with the station I'm hearing (at times) here in Atlanta (Via Jonesboro)...WGST-AM 640. On-air monitor? What on-air monitor?! Pla-ease!
