Ben Ferguson out at WREC

So in the comments section following the article there's speculation that Thaddeus Matthews has been signed by CC. That should be fun if it happens.

"Thaddy Bear" anounced on yesterday's show that he was definitely NOT going to WREC.

He said that he had 3-4 months left on his contract with KWAM and that he could not imagine himself being "constrained" by the format, style, and management at WREC.

I can see how that and NOT truly being offered a job might keep him away!

Heard that CC never even considered him. (But I have NO IDEA what the truth is)

And, ultimately, I don't care. I can ignore him at either station equally. ;)

Thaddeus on WREC??? What a hoot! That experiment was tried back in 93 or 94 by WMC and another host(ess). Horrific failure! A liberal on a conservative station is tantamount to to Black Sabbath back to back with The Blackwood Brothers.

This should be entertaining, when Thaddeus' regular callers tune in to find ole Ben behind the mic. I bet they don't follow the CA.

My hand to God, first caller today asked, "Where the HELL is Thaddeus?"

The real opportunity that was missed here is putting Ferguson and Matthews on the same show TOGETHER. The sparks that would produce would drive ratings through the roof.

I can't hear that station after sundown. Imagine what happens when they have to reduce power in the winter at 4:45...has to be a bit of a shocker going to that facility.

The coverage map on radio-locator seems very optimistic compared to my personal recollections of KWAM. I seem to recall having difficulty hearing the station anywhere outside 240 after dark.

It's 1000 watts daytime and, according to what I found online, 450 at night. I remember it being 250 at night three years ago.

Must be a typo - 1000 watts daytime is all KWAM has ever been allowed over the years. Nothing I've seen or heard indicates they got permission to increase. I've been wrong before, but this would surprise me if it's true.

No; KWAM is licensed for 10 kW. But, they are running significantly lower than that right now.

The 101.9 move-in will be operating at that site, and there is a tower project on-going to accommodate that. With the normal pattern not available, they are running lower.

From what I have been told, this should be wrapped-up soon.
