BEN-FM looping "Forever Young" Rod Stewart

Around 2:45am this morning (3:45am if you hadn't turned your clock back), I heard 95.7 BEN-FM looping "Forever Young" by Rod Stewart. It was as if they were stunting! I immediately flipped on 98.1 WOGL, thinking that Infinity launched Jack-FM and Greater Media decided to pull the plug on BEN. But, nope, I still heard oldies on 98.1 WOGL. Did anyone else hear this in the wee hours of the morning? Very strange. I was just about ready to check in to this board to see what was going on, but I turned on 95.7 one more time and they were back to normal! As a variety hits fan, I was relieved when BEN was back to normal. :)

I'm sure it was a computer automation glitch. If you listen to enough overnight radio you'll hear a zillion of 'em. Not only is someone not running the show, there usually isn't a live human anywhere near the building to fix it.

HMMMMM Do they use ENCO for their automation????? When we first got our ENCO installed when you would flip from EDT to EST our ENCO would go nuts and loop the same event over and over... A software fix and we never had the problem again... CC

Question About BEN-FM

As someone who only comes to Philly when he's flying from Hartford to Allentwon (I have to change planes in Philly), how does BEN-FM differ from the old Mix 95.7 besides the obvious fact that BEN-FM is jock-free? When I was passing through this year I listened to BEN-FM for about 10 minutes and couldn't tell the difference from when I listend to MIX 95.7 when passing through last year.

There's no denying the ten most-played songs on BEN-FM are exactly what the ten most-played songs would be if it were still Mix. And the vast majority of everything else on their playlist are Mix music as well. However, the songs that wouldn't be on Mix show a pretty stark formatic contrast:

"Leather and Lace"/Stevie Nicks, "Some Kind of Wonderful"/Grand Funk Railroad, "Sister Golden Hair"/America, "When I'm With You"/Sheriff, "Take It on the Run"/REO Speedwagon, "Brown Eyed Girl"/Van Morrison, "Ain't No Woman Like the One I Got"/The Four Tops, "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)"/C+C Music Factory, "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)"/Looking Glass...

According to yes.com's playlist data, WBEN-FM was looping "Forever Young" from 2:31 EST to 3:14 EST. The song is a few seconds shy of four minutes long, so that means they played it at least ten times during that period.

The main difference is that Mix 95.7, at least the last few months of its existence, played songs from the 90s and 00s. They were very current-driven and had a rather tight playlist. Ben-FM plays music from the 70s through today and is not current-driven.
